216,000 miles and i just ruled out a bhg lol. I'm sure previous owner has changed it before as it was rebuilt 70,000 miles ago or so he says. 9 times out of 10 though it's the owner who does something stupid like revving their engine out to 7 grand for extended periods and wondering why his piston rod is sticking out the side of his block.

Redlining a car isn't abuse... It's when you redline while drifting/autocross/ect (and uncovering the oil pickup because of the G forces) is when you have issues.

So my 88 Turbo is fixing to hit 174,000 miles and as of now I'm ironing out all this little mechanical things wrong with it. It doesn't leak have problems when driving or idling anymore. Do you think it is a good idea to have the head re torqued if you know that there isn't a sign that anything is wrong as a preventative measure?

A 1UZ is great in stock form, trying to turbo it and building it for performance is another matter as it doesn't have the aftermarket support.

a mate of mine has had his STOCK 1UZ twin turboed aswell as twincharged, and it handles it fine, he tracked the car nearly every weekend.

it was putting down 520rwhp till a piston ring let go

Yes...re-torquing is necessary after putting in a new headgasket, and you don't know if whoever replaced it remembered to do that. Although if the head gasket is already blown/leaking, re-torquing won't fix it...but it sounds like that isn't the case for you...

its flaw is the headgasket, and maybe the iron block with the aloy head but other then that the motor is a amassing platform.

people that bitch about 7m's and put it down are to stupid to put a motor together they rather go the EZ way out and spend a shit load to get a 1jz. or some other motor. but if you have the money more power to you just send me your 7m :)
