Thats odd... The dealer keeps suggesting that it would be a good idea to replace the bearing as it could cause my clunking sound...

When I get a chance Ill try to find the expoded view of that part... Heck Napa lists it as strut mount without bearing...

You know, with him saying that he thinks that the clunking sound might be caused by a bearing. For some reason, I think, he might be talking about the carrier bearing on the drive shaft. Just a guess.

Toyota loses -100 for making it so hard to get a part that is going to wear out.

How about the jackass behind the counter? I have seen good and real bad. Not like an asshole person, they just dont know.

I ordered the VSV for the ACIS on one of my n/a's a few years back, and didnt have to exlplain it to him(when I worked at Toyota). Know what I mean?
And just last fall, I bought a starter as the one way clutch was slipping. The one at this store just laughed when I said what I wanted, then said "good luck", I said have a nice day and walked out. And bought it from another dealer.

A bad strut mount will clunk. Sorry about the tangent.

Well I can say that the bump stops DO make a difference so do bad shocks.

3 shocks were just gone. They are now sitting on the floor in the garage with and not extending. The old rear springs were SHORTER than the Eibachs I installed.

We put the new boots on (used old strut mounts), new springs and 4 new TEMS tokico IIs and all the clunks went away.. The car feels awesome as hell... I also notice a major difference between 'sport' and 'normal'...

Its a sweet upgrade... Any car that old probably needs shocks.. Funny thing It had the fronts done possibly but the rears had been on since day one. The rubber boot was gone on the drivers side but the passenger side still had some left.. I HIGHLY recommend finding these boots if you want to keep TEMS on the car. The front can use the KYB boots ONLY if you are willing to drill them out they do not fit a TEMS car at all.

The TEMS parts are a bite to find so be persistant with the dealer. Or go away from the TEMS since toyota seems to not be producing the replacement parts... Neither is anyone else from what I have seen.
