I was shopping for some speakers and i found that the front door speakers are 4" and easy to fit if opting to use stock enclosures

The rear speakers are a totaly diffrent story they are 5" speakers and an odd ball size.
Have any one sourced speakers in 5" sizes?
Did most of you just use 4" on the rear? with an adapter plate? if you kept stock enclosure.

Did most of you just trash the enclosures and go open 6" if possible on the rear?

Feed back on what sounds good & not to great sounding. What works what does not would be apreciated.

the back speakers for 90+ are 5.25" or 5 1/4" speakers. to get in there, it took me a lot of elbow grease because of the hatch plastic gets in the way. You need an angle driver to get the screws and then it's still incredibly hard to put the speakers back in. I gave up and just put 2 screws instead of 4 because of how hard it is to get the speakers in. I'm surprised though that the professional install gave up lol.

The rear speaker spots are 5", but 5 1/4 fits, you just have to mess around to get them to mount right. Most likely you'll have to make some new screw holes.

EDIT: I suggest pulling off the rear plastic and removing the speaker box so you can mount them correctly. Trying to put them in with the box mounted on the car is more trouble than it's worth.

So I am guessing that my 6x9 Alpine speakers wont exactly fit as well as I would like them too....

Anyone cut up the box to make 6x9's fit?? I will take it apart and inspect it tonight I guess.

If I remember correctly, you might be able to cut the housing apart but you would have to strip the area behind the back seat and take out the plastic housing and cut the whole. But I might be wrong and you might not be able to get the 6x9's in there.

To properly install new rear speakers, the entire rear of the car must be gutted, including the side panels beside the rear seats. If you try to mickey-mouse speakers in without proper dissasembly, you could damage panels as well as not get the speaker mounted well. I once tried to pull the rear side panels out without removing the rear-seat side panels and crack!

I'm painting my interior panels and I could only get at the speaker enclosures 100% when all the panels were out. 5 1/4" fits with new screw holes.
