ok my car is a 88 turbo i found a n/a diff for 50 bucks and i was wondering if i could use that to get me by until i could afford to buy the turbo one i know the ratios are differant but will the rpms be faster or slower with the n/a and will there be a preformance change. or will the turbo motor just tear it up in a heart beat and i'll be sunk.???

the n/a have a 4.30
the turbo is 3.91 for pre 89 and 3.73 for post 89

meaning your engine will be revving higher with the n/a at the same speed as a turbo diff hopefully that made sense

Let me answer that question for you.

USA/Canada Destination:
86.5 - 92 N/A = 4.30:1 (USA: LSD Optional, Canada: LSD Standard) (Open Axle Code: G284; LSD Axle Code: G285)
87-88 Turbo = 3.91:1 LSD Standard (Axle Code G315)
89-92 Turbo = 3.73:1 LSD Standard (Axle Code G305)

Japan JZA70:
1JZ-GTE Automatic = 3.91:1 (Torsen LSD Optional) (Open Axle Code: G314; LSD Axle Code: G319)
1JZ-GTE Manual = 4.10:1 (Torsen LSD Optional) (Open Axle Code: G294; LSD Axle Code: G299)

The bucking is probably due to trash in the tank.

The hardest part of changing the diff, is getting the axles off, after the nuts are taken off. They like to hang on, and can be a slight pain in the ass. Other than that, it's nuts, bolts and weight. A jack will help with the weight.
