I've had what I thought to be Rod knock for about 2 and a half months now...
For the last 2 weeks, I have had 2 different people at a performance store that previously owned Supra's said that I dont actually have Rod Knock..but my main bearings(crank) need replaced. I am no where near experienced enough to pull the motor of my Supra myself so I cannot check to see if it is rod knock or not. I've been driving my car for almost 3 months now with this light and rapid knocking sound between 2000-2500 and in some cases of frusteration, have went a little throttle crazy, but never have went over 4500... I don't have the extra money to have someone pull the motor for me and come to find out it isn't even rod knock...I'm at a panic of what to do right now. With other previous cars I've owned, at about this time I get this feeling, I just sell it and work with something new...but I DO NOT wan't to give up on this car. I've invested/experienced/lived way to much in this car to get rid of it. Are there ANY options off hand that I can do to either check if I have rodknock FOR SURE without tearing it apart...or...I dont know.
Just, anything...any feedback would be nice.
