Radiator for power steering cooler?

I am in the process of a 2j swap on an 89 supra and was planning on using a second 7m oil cooler for the power steering fluid.

Then today I started wondering whether or not anyone has ever used the auto trans cooler in the radiator as a cooler for the power steering.

Would this be an efficient setup?

Has anyone done this? Stories? Thoughts?

It would seemingly make things a hell of a lot easier.

Thanks,
Chris

Yeah I actually found that out somewhere else. Still need a definite answer on the oil cooler question though. If they don't run external stock I'll just run my ps through the stock 7m cooler I already have.

Awesome thanks.

That might be the first time I've saved money on this build... Historic.

EDIT: Your build thread is a godsend btw. Helps me answer all those "where the hell does this go" related questions.

lol ^, i purchased a trans cooler from Advance auto for both my hydro fan & p/s cooler. Mounted where the condensor use to be.

I was going to put an external oil cooler too to find out i didnt need one but already purchased an RX7 cooler lol.

Yeah, I used my stock 7M PS cooler and flipped it around so the inlet and outlet are closer to the PS pump. I cut a little of the PS cooler ends off and ran hoses to it that way. It saved me from having a bunch of extra hoses running across the engine bay. And no problems with it so far.

Perhaps not, but I can say with 100% certainty a 2JZ-GTE would benefit from having a full flow thermostat controlled oil cooler ;)

I would add an oil cooler for the motor. I am on my 1jz, I pieced together one for about 450 using a 10x10 BM cooler and all stainless lines with earls fittings, block off adapter and remote filter housing.

you can use the radiator trans cooler with an after market trans cooler to help warm it up

doesnt take a huge P/S cooler (i spent 15-25$) mounted it in front
the 2jz's have the coolant cooled oil filter setup nothing else hehe

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking about doing originally. I was going to get a second cooler for the ps because I thought the 2j had to be externally cooled... But not I'll just use the stock bs.

On the rack... Which is the high pressure line and which is the low pressure line? (one port is closer to the firewall and one port is more towards the front end)

Also what kind of hose are you running for it? It seems like fuel hose is typically the most heavy duty.

EDIT: I will however add an oil cooler when I upgrade my fuel.

Toyota have improved a lot of things on the MA70 ,one of the few that I've seen changed 4 times was the PS cooler. I saw a short pipe on my 87 supra ,a longer pipe on my 89 supra a single coooler radiator off my JDM clip and finally the V/H twin cooler design I took off of a 1992 USDM car (top of the picture):

Permanent&

Using the V/H cooler I've never had any PS issues - 2 drift events ,countless AutoX events etc :)
