i bought a radiator cap but when the car runs it puts allot of pressure on the hoses. just to be safe i bought the same pressure rated cap but a different brand but its the performance locking type. This cap made it release fluid into to the reservoir when lightly squeezed. i will be buying new hoses btw.

Do i run the risk of a bhg with a cap that puts this much pressure on the cooling system? will a toyota cap do the same thing or is there a brand i should look for?

I usually just run a toyota rad cap since its only about 15$ from toyota.

The cooling system is under .9 bar or 13psi when hot.

Its normal for the hoses to get hard because of the pressure. Older hoses will be harder because the rubber is old.

p.s. bbc springs are only like 60$ new.

Stick with stock pressure cap, you only risk blowing out weak hoses, a weak heater core, and popping out freeze plugs when you bump up the pressure. It allows for a higher boiling point of the coolant, but is not necessary on a street car.
