Looking good. I'm surprised you decided to stick with the stock pressure based cooler instead of upgrade to full flow.
On track days, I'll pull out the thermo pellet, as has been advised by fellow club racers, to eliminate the restriction. For now it stays as long as I'm DD ing it. Van

Here is my choice for wheel:Drag 38 17x9.jpg A Drag wheel, 17x9 w/a 38 off set, in gun metal gray. I'll be running a BF Goodrich g-force Sport Comp 2 tire for DD: g force sport comp 2.jpg 255 ZR rating. This is what I can afford, at this time... :icon_neut This setup might be what the Supra needs to hold the traction with the current power? Currently, the car can break traction in the first three gears. Van

O.K. Here at last is the new set up: Drag DR38, 17x9 -38 off set, shod with 255 40 BFG g-force Sport Comp 2. All I need do is make small adjustments to the wheel stops so they won't rub on the fender or frame, etc. The fender and liner are stock, (no pulling).
The benefit is increasing the contact patch from 8 to 10 inches, at the same time not increasing the weight on the hub. This means higher speeds in the corner at the limit of the tire, more braking and improved scrubbing of speed before going into a corner and improved steering response, from what I've been used to. Van, nice progress! Previously, you spoke of the very light Enkei's. I'm sure they were pricier than the Drag wheels! Do you have weight for the 17x9 DR's you went with?

Thanks,

Hi Crisp,
23 LBS each. I figure that is heavy enough to tough out our pot holed roads in the Greater NW. Van

LOLz! Good rationalization for the weight, HA!

Looking at some "low cost" MB rims in same sizing... sounds like right at 20lb range. Better than 23, but man 16~17lb rims would pay off BIG in rotating mass reduction!

Thank you for the feedback. ;)

Ran a set of English Velocity rims way back on my Supra, they were sub 20lbs... ended up looking like an Aussie 50c piece..

So... IJ, you are a proponent of "adequate mass" for durability and strength over the gain of "low mass" rotating weight reduction? Is that the lesson to consider here?

Thank you,

If the Supra was a dedicated track car, I'd have gone with the Enkei RPF1, but it is a DD'er, that sees the track six times a year for track days, not racing... I just couldn't justify the risk or expense of a lighter wheel. Van

So, the Supra failed tech Saturday at PIR for a leaking water pump!:3d_frown: I spent the day working the track in "Hot Pits". Not what I expected. Got a start on my sun tan... Will replace the pump ASAP. I'm back in April for a go at the track with the new set up and new H2O pump...

A question that comes to mind; why are our cars set up a little higher in the rear suspension? Is there more stability doing it that way?

I've been told Toyota set up the suspension higher in the rear so it wouldn't bottom out under a hard launch? Yeah... I asked fellow road racing club members at Cascade Sports Care Club and I was told to cut off 1/4 of the bottom winding on each spring and go out for a test run to see how well it handles. That's what I'm going to do... Van

Nice thread, and nice DDP ;-)

Will it be recirculated, I've read it may cause turbo creep if not..
Yes, the DDP is scheduled to get a recirc pipe that goes all the way down to near the exit flange.
