Thanks IJ. I'm glad my memory hasn't gone way of the dodo...

I'm not differing with you here IJ because you are correct; but, the difference in readings between the two meters should be slight. Well...depending on the age and type of his meter anyway... ;)

If you can get them to do this, have them do a comparison test between an analog and digital meter, and post up the results. I wouldn't do it if they're going to charge you extra for that though.

It's all good. We just needed the number. Polarity isn't important here. :)

My understanding after talking to a Rad specilist here is that the DMM is totally inaccurate for this type of test, I had a hell of a time finding an analogue MM to buy :)
(already own a Fluke DMM)

So, I go to Auto Electric Specialties, the owner looked at the radiator, asked me if it was mounted the way Toyota designed, I said yes. He replied, "Good, then why do you need to test the coolant?" I didn't have an answer that really made sense, to him. I told him that fellow Supra owners on the forum I frequent... and I noticed the eye roll. He said, do you trust people you haven't ever seen? I jokingly said, Frankly, I don't trust some people I see. He added a snyde remark, "I'd never take the word of someone on those places". He wasn't being constructive, so I'll look else where to get the help I need.
Tom at Able Radiator also doesn't test radiators for current, as long as they clear all the body and are mounted as OEM. Tom had only an DMM to test for current and the numbers were similar to those already posted. Van

Well, I finally have a good, working JDM TCCS, in the Supra. The old one had issues; pulling timing during WOT pulls from 3K on-ward. Tonight I took Ol Fatty out for a test run (in mid seventy degree temps), she performed flawlessly, w/o pulling timing, the engine building power smoothly, even though the engine was heat soaked. I ran up several long (~1/4 mile), hills in fourth gear to see if the ECU would act as the old one had; again no timing getting pulled because of knock detection. It just slowly kept building power.
The next phase is to drive it around during the heat of the day and see how well the ECU compensates for the hotter operating temps. Then it's off to VIP Performance for a dyno and road tune. Van

Congrats on the ecu. Im glad to see its working for you.
I'm pleased with this ECU's performance. Had it been in the car when we we're at the track, it would have been fun to make a few passes down the 1/4 mile to see what she could have done.
Connor, how's you're Supra coming along?

Nice read there Van.

Glad things are coming together. Be sure to keep us posted on your dyno results.

When is this thing going to tear up PIR?
Yes, that info on electrolysis, was enlightening ;) Fatty is scheduled for a dyno tune next week, so we'll all have to wait some more... After the 12th I start a new job and on the 12th is the last track day at PIR for my club, Cascade Sports Car. So, looks like I'll just go down the 1/4 mile this year.
Kenny, what have you been up to on the Supra? Van

Good luck with the new job. Hopefully, this is a good thing for you!

My supra has taken a back seat to the task of fattening up the "Kenny Fund". I've got a few big ticket items to pay for.

Including; but, not limited to:
Brian Crower 272's
Head Work
CF Hood

I am also trying to finish up the Water/Meth Install. We're trying to put together a Dyno Day for October so I'm running out of time! :)

Update: Supra drives great w/o any timing pulled due to knock. Power was predictably building all day today while I drove it around town. Spent this evening setting the base timing back to stock, from 8 degrees, and Fatty really pulled nicely up my local hills. A nice improvement over last night. I went down to Gladstone and gradually started uping the boost, and even on a heat soaked engine, and ~75 degree OAT, the boost built gradually and strongly. No boost spike noted, nor timing being pulled. Wide band showed WNL during ops. Currently, the Blitz dual solinoid, EBC gain is set at "7" and the percent of waist gate at 65 and boost set at 11.5 psi.

Yes, the new work is really needed in our household, and I'd rather not work more than an hour from my home, but sacrifices need to be made.
Your project is really taking off!
I was thinking of going to SIP and getting a pair of their cams, a tubular manifold and a modern GTS type snail and then AEM it all together. Now, I'm going to improve the stopping power of the car w/BBK from Arizona Performance and move to 17 x 10 non-stagered wheels and sticky rubber. I really want to get the car prepped for class racing, so that means, safety gear, getting a roll cage, aluminum seats and a stripped interior. Van

Well its still in the shop... they have had the car for a month and a half and the new engine has been there for a week and a half and its still not in the car. they say that they are taking their time to make sure there are no problems. its extremely frustrating though. especially with all this nice weather we're finally getting.

If your heart isn't set on these, let me know. I have info on a kit that's at a better price. And the provider is from Oregon! ;)

8/10/2011 Dyno Result on Stock Waste Gate Pressure

david%5B5%5D%20-%20Copy.jpg

Old Dyno Result w/Unstable AF

Here is the latest news: Wryann of VIP Performance, was pleased to announce that the Supra was successfully tuned using the new JDM ECU. As I recall: the motor now consistently stays at the set AF and is making reliable power and torque. He isn't too sure how close the valves are to the piston, so he didnt play too much with the cam gears, but enough that he was able to get more power in the top end, than in stock setting. Wryann also spent time road tuning the 7M. We talked about taking the 7M to the track to do a test and tune.

Wryanns email: "The best dyno sheet from before was very similar power and TQ numbers, but I was never able to get to redline without hearing "knock" so I always had to lift!! Remember I showed you A/F log readings and you could see they were very un-stable. This time around I was able to maintain very smooth A/F under boost and I was also able to get consistency/ repeatability every run. Cruze A/F and idle is 14.7 and under full boost 10.8-11.1 A/F."

The next dyno run will be to start uping the boost to see how much the system will take, until the EGTs start climbing too high. Wryann has set the Supra up conservatively for DD. I want to know where the upper limit is so when it's time to race, I can set it to a preset boost setting that is known to be below that upper limit!

Nice, same dyno we have at our shop.

Thanks, Devin.
Any decision on your Supra's future?

I was looking closely at the dyno graph... Am I nuts?! Is the JDM ECU letting the engine rev to 6800?
