yes you can buy them new from toyota for like 1800 without bell housing and the shifter linkages IIRC.
Sil;1029486 said:Solsti are 5 speeds, I don't think the AR5 and the R154 are exactly the same transmission, even with swapped bell housings I doubt they would bolt up interchangeably.
I'm not saying this with any certainty, just going off of what I've observed when I've seen a Solstice on the lift, and my Supra. From a quick glance didn't really look like it would be a bolt on affair, then again maybe the modifications needed aren't that hard either.Dylan JZ;1029515 said:hmm alright.. well in any case, from what I've heard theyre not the same trans, just very similiar and use some of the same parts.

This is a robust 5-speed transmission found in the MKIII Supra Turbo and Toyota Soarer (turbo) up to 2001. It is also reported to have been used in Isuzu truck applications, as well as the Pontiac Solstice.

Aside from bellhousing bolt pattern, and general size, they're completely different. There was a guy that modded one in to a Supra though.
As for teh Solstice having a 6 speed, people may be thinking of the GXP model.
