I'm removing my tranny to replace the clutch and i need to know what I am doing wrong. I've done everything it says in the haynes manual and I still cant get the tranny to separate from the block. What I need to know is if the clutch cover gets pushed back while the tranny is still connected or if it can be pushed back after. Please Help.

Remove the clutch fork through the access plate on the drivers side.
Remove E clip, remove pin, pull out clutch fork.

Did you get the top bolt over from the top starter bolt? Remove all the mounting bolts, rear cross member, rear speed sensor, backup light etc., remove starter, remove the release fork and all the bolts to the clutch cover/PP in criss cross motion slide the PP and disc back onto the spline and she should slide right out.
Also need to remove the shifter from inside the car.

the clutch fork and everything are out? have someone put a wrench on the crank bolt and turn it and make sure you got all the bolts out. that's the easiest way i can think of....
^^yep 6 bolts on pp. clutch fork must come out and pp must be slid back(try a pry bar?) and there are three bolts on the top of the bellhousing, one for the starter and two others throught the bellhousing. i can post a edtailed pic of the face of the bellhousing is nessisary.
The PP is held in by 3 pins. It has to be removed perfectly straight, or else the pins will bind, and the PP won't budge. Try going around the edge of the PP with a screwdriver, slowly moving it out as you go around it.
BTW, I got the R154 out with the PP still on the flywheel, but I had to jack the front of the engine up to tilt everything back. (Didn't go back on that way though)

I had a 1979 Celica one time that I couldn't get the transmission off of. You could spin it back and fourth, so I know I had all of the bolts out, but it would not let go of the input shaft. I pried on it with a crowbar and it wouldn't budge. I worked on just trying to get the transmission off for two days. I gave up and sold it to a friend of mine with a big shop. He got it off, but it took him two more days.

Yea it's a PITA to install the r154 with the disc and PP already installed. Been there done that.
