Whats the difference between the abs and Non-abs trannies?

Other than the obvious sensor in the side can they handle more or less power?

how does the sensor get a reading is it like a gear?

I just want to know if its ok to remove the sensor and plug it>??

I too am interested in this. I have an R154 swapped into my ABS car, but I'm not sure how to tell if the tranny is ABS compatable or not, is there a picture or diagram showing where I can tell?

The sensor reads from a gear in the tranny. I cant recall on R154's if it is a seperate toothed gear or if it read from a drive gear like the W58's. The sensor is magnetic hall sensor. Yes you can remove it and plug the hole if you are removing the ABS system. In order to remove it, you will need to fab up a plate / plug for it wil an o-ring. Best bet would be to leave the sensor in to act as a plug for the hole.

same tranny...

looking up more info, but you might be able to do a simple conversion if the internals are the same (in other words if the sensor still has something to read then you just pop the plug out and insert the sensor)

I thought all turbos had ABS. Was it an option?

Anyways, if you have ABS just see if theres a plug where it should go in the transmission.

all r154's will swap into your car,

weather or not the abs system will like it is a different' story,

i dont think there is a difference in tone wheels between 88- late 89-90 vehicles due to the gear ratio change, but it's possible.

it is possible to turn a non abs tranny into a abs tranny, you need to take the tail housing off and disassemble a few collars and c-clips but you can slip a tone ring on and more then likely dril and tap, and boire a hole and make abs work.
