IJ when you say 'snout' Are you talking about the section of the output shaft that sits inside the input shaft on a needle roller bearing? I didn't measure this :S

interesting, Do you know what it should be? I don't think there is a spec in the tsrm otherwise i presume i would have measured it, could have missed it though. If it's undersized, do you think it would be possible to machine and sleeve?

I come from a land down under
I had one in a w58 hard face welded and ground to size.

There should be an unworn section at the end where the rollers don't contact I'd measure that but I'd say it will be an exact size ie:17.000mm.
(it was a LONG time ago I did this)

When you assemble the transmission, the input shaft should have no discernible play.
