R154 Auto box issue

Hey guys, recently bought a mk3 with a 1jz swap. After giving it some thrashing the gearbox isn't so happy. As far as I'm aware, the engine/box has 170,000kms on it. It will sit in 1st up to ~5,000 before swapping to 2nd(with using minimal throttle). When in gears(mainly 1/2) anything over 5,000rpm and the power will slip - I'll be going nowhere sitting on red line. 3rd seems okay, but I haven't pushed it near red since the problem. And yes while sitting idle, shifting from reverse-neutral-drive is clunky and makes me cry:3d_frown:

Any input would be great, thanks in advance

Sounds like clutch issue.

For reverse try
3rd then reverse
4th then reverse
Or push clutch in push clutch out push clutch in wait 3 sec and then try.
It's straight cut gears with no syncro so the gears don't always mesh up perfect and grind.

It's still a clutch issue, just not a manual one. You will either have to have that one rebuilt or buy another used auto. You can buy a rebuild kit here http://www.importperformancetrans.c...-kit/a340-a341-a343-aw4-rebuild-kit-1785.html if you know someone that can rebuild it for you.

R154 is the 7mgte and jza70 stickshift trans

Turns out its an A340 :| second gear is almost completely gone at all rpm unless youre already moving quick

Replace or rebuild the trans.

Might be the first time I've heard of a 1j causing a transmission issue. Torqueless my ass.

What hvyman said though, time for a freshening on that old slushbox, she's tired.
