hey so ive got a quick question for you guys. I have an n/a with the normal w58 and it seems like no matter what i do i cant seem to shift it smoothly. I just put a new clutch in it and a little before that i did the master cylinder. My stick shift also seems kind of crunchy as i shift gears but its not actually grinding. any ideas??

I'm running my original W-58 at somewhere around 400 whp. and I love it. It shifts very positive, (C's shifter) and is quite a bit lighter than the R154. Now my W-58 has 39,000 miles on it and I run Redline MTL which is changed every 10,000 miles. I don't launch my car or drag race and I lift when shifting. I do however shift very quickly. It's kinda like the 5 speed in my WRX. If you abuse it you will break it.

i dont have a w58 in my supra, but i have had 2 celica's wiht w58's, and the shift qualitly is far better in the w58, it's like shiftin into butter, while the r's i have driven you feel the engagment of the syncro and the gear, feels like it goes into gear twice, where the w58 is just smooth,

even my rebuilt in spec R shifts far better then my brothers R, we have the marilin bushings in both cars, you can still say a worn out w58 shifts smoother.

if you have low power qoals stay with your w58, other wise the r154 has seen 843 horse, from nates car, and 814 from duanes, now take it you dont want to abuse the 1st to second shift when making over 400 horse, and close to the 500torque mark, it'll snap the thrust washer..
