Hey alls...

Ive done a bit of searching and couldnt find the answer... although i didnt try extremely hard to do so...

anyways... im strongly considering a 2jz-naT build.... swapping in the 2j and running it NA for the time being while I put together the turbo setup...

question 1... will the newer 2jzge engines fit the supra like the earlier models will? I know the sc300 motor will swap... however... what about the slightly easier to find is300 engine (the 2jzge vvt) and how well does the vvt engine perform with boost?

2nd... why do some choose to run the 2jz on 7m electronics... is it better to do so or better to run the 2jz ecu and wiring?

anyways... thanks alls

The na vvti rods have been shown to be weaker, you are better off with a sc300 one (has the right pans).

The 7m-gte ecu can be used on the 2jz with only a few modifications, rather than having to find and splice a 2jz harness into a MKIII.

which 7m electronics are prefered... turbo or na? im currently na so i'd have to locate a gte harness, ecu, etc... if the gte stuff is what is needed...

just something else i'd have to add to the budget

thanks

here is another quesiton... is the sc300's automatic trans controled by the ecu? if so... will the 7m's ecu be able to control the trans?

I'm running a 2JZ out of an SC300 with a 7M turbo harness and ECU. Currently running it NA with no issues aside from it running a little rich with the 440 injectors in it. My car was already manual so I can't really help you with running the auto trans. The 7M ECU has plenty of growth room in it when you go turbo as long as you use a fuel controller. You will not notice any drop in power from a Turbo 7M, plenty of torque down low and much smoother motor.

One suggestion on the motor mounts is to use good polyurethane mounts instead of solid billets unless you're looking for huge power. I went with solids at first, not horrible, but I wanted a little less vibration inside while driving.

SC300 tranny will be a PITA, as the shifter location sits further back.
I would run a 7m tranny with the sc300 bell housing and converter.
