I usually grease the hell out of the camshafts and the shims and then pour over a quart or two of oil so it can "fill in the gaps"... probably slight overkill but not a bad idea.

The reason i asked is since my head has been in the back of my van for a week,i was'nt sure if that would interfear with anything.i was thinking about pouring half a quart over the cams but wanted to make sure.I DO NOT WANT TO do another head job for atleast 20 years or so since i've done 2 within a year.I'm just correcting my MISTAKES from last year. Thanks for the insight.

Heh, it's already got assembly lube on it... but not knowing what or how well it stayed in place after sitting in a van for a week I'd be inclined to pull the cams and lube everything up well with moly. Before you put the timing belt back on turn the cams by hand and pour oil over them. This will give it a chance of getting in past the shim buckets.

EDIT: "missing link"?? Hardly, looks like there already is assembly lube on the cams.

you can also disable fuel and crank it over for a little while before you start her up to get the oil flowing a bit. Just make damn sure you dont pour oil in there before the bolts are in lol you dont want to fill the bolt holes with oil

Disable fuel?....Why do that? Why not just disconnect the coil from the distributor or from the coil itself? A whole lot easier and thats what i did. :]

So you don't go spraying fuel in there when you don't need it? Spark's cheap. ;)

By the way, you can disable the fuel by simply removing the EFI fuse.

What I've done before the timing belt is in place and after the oil pan is on, is turn the oil pump shaft with a drill with a couple quarts of oil in, it will prime the system. :)

The head looks to be in very good shape. They usually have a lot more corrosion around the water passages than what yours has.
