3 months/3000 miles is a definetly not needed. Search on JJ and adjusters oil threads. It is well documented. The biggest problem with oil is dilution from blowby, due to not reaching operating temps when driving. Being dark in color has shown to not be really a detriment.

I am running Royoal Purple too and I change mine every 3-4 miles. I always change my oil and filter at the same time. Something in me just feels bad if I go longer without changing the oil...LOL

You don't have to rely on JJ or Adjuster on the possible consequences of too frequent oil changes. I've done some reading and found other studies that supported waiting 6,000 miles or longer. Do some Google searching. I think I've seen enough to be convinced, and I've decided to run 10W-40 syn this summer and 10W-30 this winter. I'm now on the two oil/filter changes a year and biweekly oil level checks plan. I don't think I'll regret it a bit.

This question is right up there with people asking the auto parts guy where the blinker fluid is? c'mon we all know when ya change the oil you change the filter, I run amsoil full synthetic and I change it at each oil change and at the halfway point.

CHANGE YOUR FILTER, WHATS SIX BUCKS ANYWAY?

Considering the long amounts of driving synthetics have proven to be capable of running, I would think it would be more important to change your filter more often than the oil.

the 12 month schedule makes no sense to me. come on what if you drive 3k miles in a year or 30k miles. mileage is going to make the difference not the time.

i also agree that you dont Need to change filters every oil change. someone in another forum posted that in europe and most other countries they change filters alot less often. i think its 6-9k miles for filters, still 3k miles for oil. however at the price of the filter, you might as well just change it.

What I normally do is run full synthetic for 10,000 miles; and change the filter every 5,000 miles.

I have read many different articles which state that it is in fact worse for synthetic oil to be changed so early; because there are different types of additives which need to be worn in to work correctly. This is what the AMSoil guy said, as well.
