Just tried to call Aaron (since I know he's got the answer) but no answer, so I'll throw the question up here.

I was going to post in the Standalone section, but thought I'd wait until the answer was found here, and then ask the SME of the Standalone (Can't remember if it's JJ or Dr J right now) to move it over.

First, some background:

We've got a 1JZ from a Soarer in an SC300. Re-wiring for the Stinger, as evidently the body harness plugs are different in the SC vs the Supra (so Aaron's completely sweet PnP harness is out of the question)

Here's what I've learned thus far:

If I'm incorrect on anything I post here, PLEASE call me on it!

The 1JZ uses a 24toothed crank sensor, combined with 2 camshaft sensors on the intake camshaft. The camshaft sensors are triggered @ #1 TDC and #6. These are both single tooth triggers for the magnetic sensors.

The 1JZ uses a full sequential spark system, from the factory, correct? Considering we have only 4 ignition channels on the Stinger, that will no longer be the case. We will have to wire the coils something like a batch fire system - 1-6, 2-5, 3-4, ala 7M - correct?

Information I seek:
It would seem I should be able to use the 24tooth crank trigger as the Trigger signal for the Stinger, and use one (or both?) of the camshaft sensor signals as the Sync signal.

That said, I'm having some difficulty determining the exact setup to use on the Stinger.

As best as I can tell from THIS JAPANESE GIBBERISH G1-, G2-, and NE- are actually all one and the same. I'm assuming at this point that the 1JZ triggers are just standard inductive triggers? If so, I need to determine how to feed that info into the Stinger.

Appreciate any help you guys can toss my way :)

I want you guys to understand how powerful this board is. 95% of the time, when I finally get to the point I post a question, THE ANSWER COMES TO ME.

In this case, in the form of the Stinger Help file ::dunce::

For anyone wondering:

1) Wire a common ground from the sensors (Wire NE- and G1-) to pin 21 of the Stinger

2) Wire your positive side (in this case, I'm going to try G1) of the 'sync' sensor to pin 20 of the Stinger

3) Wire your positive side (in this case, NE) of the 'trigger' to pin 8 of the Stinger.

I'll try it all out tomorrow (if Greg or Jeff aren't busy) and post back what happens :)

Sounds like you have all the information correct. Only use 1 of the cam sensor(rear one is preferred) when you wire up the stinger or else the ecu will get confused and not go back to "home" and start the firing sequence. Make sure you setup the ecu using a normal type and set the trigger for a 24 tooth wheel with the sync on.

Also you are correct in assuming that all the sensors on the 1JZ are magnetic. We do not have any Hall sensors so the wiring is very straight forward.
