I removed the engine with the tranny still connected,
i took out all the surrounding bolts including starter, do you
normally have to pry it off? i started too a little but wasn't sure so i came
on here and looked on J seamens guide and the way he described it was
right when he took of all the surrounding bolts it just dropped.

Did you remove the clutch fork?

Ahh that would explain alot, Where exactly is it?
I've looked on the TSRM but it doesn't really show it too well.
On Jseamens guide he was removing an auto and i totally forgot about it.

No prob, It's in the 4th pic down. It would make it alittle easier to unbolt the pressure plate too. Hope this helps.

There should be two little metal tabs that 'lock' the fork in place, try pressing those down to slide it out. Don't mess them up though.

-Mike

Haha alright ill go try that, getting me kinda scared when you say dont mess them up...
eeek =/

It would be difficult to mess them up unless you pry with a screwdriver, but I don't put anything passed the folks on this forum. The reason I say don't mess them up, is because if you do, the fork will have a hard time staying in place- and you don't want that ;)

Hmm ok, well i got both clutch housing covers off, and i see i guess the clutch fork, if i push it in, oil squirts out the little hole next to the hatch part,
i didnt know it would do that and it squirted right in my face but owell, anyways do i just reach both hands 1 on each side and pull it out torwards my block or
do i have to pry it like you said above just a little? the TSRM explains nothing, just saids undo the hatch covers and pull out the clutch fork =[

I tried that, didnt work?

EDIT: So i went and tried pulling it towards me and that didnt work, it didnt even nudge, as i look
in there i see 2 nuts holding it down im assuming? but theres no way and ill i beable to get a wrench in
there im pretty sure.

There is a "c" clip holding the pin in on the clutch fork. Remove the clip and push the pin out and it will slide right out.

edit: Or you can remove the pressure plate.

There is nothing difficult about this.

- Unbolt the clutch slave
- Remove the inspection plate
- Reach in and grab the fork
- Pull
- Wriggle a bit if you have to
- The fork will come out
- Slide transmission toward rear of car
- Remember to remove the shifter from the top first.

I Always put some visegrips on the fork for extra easy removal, it comes straight out of the plates that you took off.

If you where able to see it off of the car, the fork would be pointing in between 4 and 5 o'clock, pull in that same direction and it will slide right out.

It is if you have no clue about what a clutch fork looks like,
and i already removed the motor with the tranny as i stated in my
aforementioned post but i appreciate the response

it goes no where, and i dont see anything that looks like tabs =/

^this. I should have told you that first. I assumed you had done that. The slave has the fork in a bind. Taking off the slave will relieve the pressure on the fork and will allow you to pull it out.

Sorry about that,

the tabs are the metal half hooks that the "pin" fits in.

Well if you unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel you'll be able to seperate the trans from the engine easier. Then you can get the trans on a bench to work the fork.
