SEARCH.

Hell a Google Search, and the EPC will give you this answer.

To Narrow it down; Turbo from 87-Mid 89 has the 3.90, and the 1JZ had a 4.10 Torsen. You fill in the blanks. ;)

Let me answer that question for you.

USA/Canada Destination:
86.5 - 92 N/A = 4.30:1 (USA: LSD Optional, Canada: LSD Standard) (Open Axle Code: G284 for Pre-89, G282 for 89+; LSD Axle Code: G285)
87-88 Turbo = 3.91:1 LSD Standard (Axle Code G315)
89-92 Turbo = 3.73:1 LSD Standard (Axle Code G305)

Japan JZA70:
1JZ-GTE Automatic = 3.91:1 (Torsen LSD Optional) (Open Axle Code: G314; LSD Axle Code: G319)
1JZ-GTE Manual = 4.10:1 (Torsen LSD Optional) (Open Axle Code: G294; LSD Axle Code: G299)

Not quite. Should have left your post to just the first bit, maybe then he could have searched and found accurate information, lol.

slightly nub question, but aside from the LSD sticker, how would one identify a junkyard diff for ratio and LSD? assuming of course it isn't in a car (which makes it easy)

Interesting. Then, according to this, limited slip comes standard on all models after 86.5. If that's the case, then what is MVP Motorsports selling in their TRD LSD Upgrade?

TRD LSD Upgrade for 1986-92 Supra Turbo & Non-Turbo

Part # TR 41301-JX000 MK3

This Limited Slip Differential (LSD) upgrade will assure that you deliver equal power to both rear wheels, giving you more responsive and safer handling abilities.

NOTE: Fits both Automatic and Manual transmissions, all years.

MSRP $1,078.43
Your Price $943.00

because the factory LSD is nothing compared to a properly functioning clutch type LSD. aftermarket and TRD are generally a LOT more aggressive than the OEM one.

lol, thanks for the counting teeth tip but i was hoping to avoid having to crack diffs open at the junkyard :p

qualify better.
3.73 will get a marginally faster top end, 3.91 will be marginally quicker
3.73 is marginally better gas mileage

So higher the ratio the better accel you get? The lower the better top end/gas mileage you get?

What diff does the JDM 86.5 (factory 7mgte) have? (digital dash model)

For JDM MA70's (Pre-89):
Automatic: 3.91:1 (LSD Optional)
Manual: 3.73:1 (LSD Standard)

No, LSD was standard on turbo models and Canadian N/A models. It was optional on the N/A in the USA for 86.5 all the way to 92.

The factory MA70 LSD is a clutch type LSD :aigo:

But you are correct the TRD and other aftermarket LSD's will be more aggressive than the factory LSD, but you will sacrifice some driveability in the name of a better performing LSD. (Noise while turning at low speeds, possibly small amount of wheel skip).

TRD/Aftermarket are typically stronger than the stock LSD, especially the Torsen LSD used in the JZA70.
