More than you'll ever make....

The block is +2mm just about everywhere, I posted a bunch of direct comparison pics between an 87 and my new 93 blocks.
Not that its my goal, but are we talking 4 digit dyno numbers? Has anyone ever made enough power to break one of these cranks?

Toyota never sold people with pre-89 blocks/cranks the newer stuff. It doesn't change up like that.

If you order a pre-89 crank or block, that's what you'll get, or you'll likely be told it's obsolete/discontinued.

6M and 7M cranks are still available.
Only newer reinforced bare blocks/shortblocks are available now.

Those are some good pictures IJ. I got another question that kinda goes with this thread.

Do you know why Group 'A' MKIII's used GE blocks /w forged internals? No oil squirters right? Did they use any knock sensors at all?

Sorry missed the Q as we'd gone to a new page !

My "assumption" on the Race motors was Oil pressure/volume was more important to them than Oil temp so they used the Heavy NA blocks and fully grooved main bearings.

Not sure on the KS's but I'd also assume no being a race engine used under strictly controlled conditions.
(You could PM Steve/GroupA Supra and ask if his block has the KS pads drilled and tapped)

No worries.

That was also my assumption too, on both counts. My plan was to use my current block to make a reliable 'monster' in the future, but I still got lots of learning to do apparently. And lots of time to go with that goal;) Thanks. I'll most likely start a thread in the distant future when it's a more serious goal.

One last question. Were the Group 'A' race cars pre or post 89 blocks? And what kind of specs were they running? This is way off topic and I'm done.
