Questions on differences between 7M-GTE and 7M-GE.

I'm trying to find out if all 7M crankshafts are forged. So far I have looked on Supra wiki, and 7MPower and I have not gotten a definitive answer from either. I did find in this thread that at least some are forged, my guess would be the 7M-GTE's for sure. What I'm unsure of is if the 7M-GE uses the same crankshaft, or if it is any different. Also, what kind of power will the forged one support safely?
Also, I have found that there are oil squirters in the 7M-GTE, but not in the 7M-GE (correct me if I'm wrong). What I want to know is if there are any other differences between the blocks?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and reply.

the cranks are the same for ge's and gte's. 89+ 7m's have the 7m crank which is heavier but better balanced. pre-89's have the 6m crank, which is lighter but is less balanced. im not sure about them being forged. gte blocks have the oil squirters, ge did not. im pretty sure thats the only difference in the blocks. i believe the 89+ blocks are structurally stronger..
i dont think crank strength is an issue if you have good oil clearances on the journals and everything is in spec.

Wait, the 7M has a 6M crank in pre 89's?

If you search that question, you'll find lots of locked threads with the exact same answer. It's not worth the effort, and it only shifts the powerband. You'll choke the motor up top. GTE's have GTE cams for a reason. ;)

That somewhere should probably be in your own thread...

GTE blocks have 2 knock sensors, GE's only have 1.
GTE block has a turbo oil drain, GE's do not.

Now I got a couple questions haha,

Are the Post 89 blocks actually stronger?
Are all the cranks(6M & 7M) forged?

That pretty much answers all my questions except for how much HP a 7M crank will safely support. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

Good Man IJ:thumbup:Thanks.
So much for my dreams on putting forged internals in my 86.5 when the turbo finally pops SOMETHING.

The block is +2mm just about everywhere, I posted a bunch of direct comparison pics between an 87 and my new 93 blocks.

i asked my engine builder weather i should use the 6m crank out of my pre 89 block or the crank out of my 89+ block, he said use the 7m crank as toyota just put more counterweights in for a good reason,

Those are some good pictures IJ. I got another question that kinda goes with this thread.

Do you know why Group 'A' MKIII's used GE blocks /w forged internals? No oil squirters right? Did they use any knock sensors at all?
