Hey guys!

I'm ready to get a short shifter; but, there aren't many choices out there. For those who are running short shifters or those who have driven MKIII's with a short shifter, I have some questions.

1. What brand/where was it purchased?
2. Would you buy that same brand again?
3. Did it substantially shorten the throw?
4. Was it worth the cost?

Thanks my bruthas and sistas...

Jim King V2 or V3 short shifter. At first you will be like "why the hell did I spend this much just for a shifter" then once you have it installed and drive the car you will love it and realize it was worth the money. I tried the mookeh and c's and the jim king is far superior to those 2.

i've got a v3 too. it kicks ass. it feels really wierd at first because its easy to get used to the stock slow throw shifter. once you get used to the v3 and how much closer the throws are you'll love it. somehow its not really low to. practically same height as stock. i hate those ricer ones that are like in a crater of a shift boot. lol.

V3 here too. i love it. i agree with black. it seemed really long when i first installed it because i was used to the sogi shortshift mod. but after driving with it i realized why its so highly recommended. shifts so smooth and no more vibrations while cruising (had that problem on the sogi shifter).
i believe you can make the shifter shorter by removing the center shaft but they recommend keeping it the original height.

Never tried a C's, but I hear they are set up kind of long and closer to the steering wheel.

I also just got a Jim King V3 shifter, and it is really sweet. I can't believe how lame the SOGI mod shifter feels compared to this. The notchiness is virtually gone and it takes much less force.

I shortened my V3 shifter 1", but it was quite difficult to do. I had to cut 1" off both the inner shaft and 3/4" off the bottom threaded part. It would be easy to raise it higher, but not easy to make it shorter. I love it now that it is 1" shorter than the way it came.

So, it sounds like the Jim King V3 is the common liking. Thanks everyone!

Is anyone running the merlin crawler with the V3 or does the V3 eliminate the need for the merlin crawler?

OK, let me ask this another way.....

Can anyone explain the 'technology or engineering' behind what/how a short shifter works? Maybe once that's explained.....I can better understand how the V3/C's are designed to understand their differences or pros/cons.

I ask this because I was JUST about to order a C's but is looking at the V3 now. Thanks!!

most of the shifters just raise the shifter base up, and then they extend the pivot down, so you get more movement for less throw from the shifter.

if you put on a 1'' riser on the transmission, and then extended the pivot ball down 1''... you would have a short shifter. but obvisouly its more complicated than that.

and the whole idea behind a short shifter is that you get into the gears faster so you can theoretically go faster....
