Not all the same thing, and if you search, people have had issues with the evergreen gaskets...

are you referring to that recent BHG due to improper torque and detention?

Ok so im just waiting to get flamed for this but idk what im doing wrong,
ive been at this for an hour trying to figure it out and i cant...

Headgasket question:

Just got my block and head back from the machine shop, Milled/Hot tanked.
Idk how much they took off but this is what i measured.

My Head: 139mm
My Block: 276mm
Stock head = 116mm deck to valve cover surface
Stock block = 198.5mm from deck to main bearing saddle

I even used:
http://charles.generationz.net/Supra/headgasketsize.html

And im getting like -99...?

I read the IJ Headgasket selection thread but it just doesn't make sense to me...
"If 2 and 3 are less that amount needs to be added to 1 to retain the stock compression ratio and squish/quench."
added to 1 to? i dont understand that? add to 1 to what to? huh?

I'd like to order my MHG tonight... =/

According to this they added material to your block and head lol

I knew they were nice guys but didnt think they were that nice...
Do you think they charged me for the extra material?

lol jk, yea i kinda guessed i measured it wrong but idk how loool?

The block i may have measured wrong but the head is almost the same height all the
way around...

And i used the google inches to mm converter...

Anyways ill go to my neighbors tomorrow and get something a little more accurate than
a tape measure.

I still dont see how i could have measured it that bad...

Also another quick question, my block Headgasket surface is pretty rough, its got like tiny
grooves in it? but the head's surface is super super smooth.... Is this normal?

In that thread, there is a list of 3 numbered items, which is what IJ's statement is referring to. #2 and #3 are the stock head and block heights, and #1 is the stock headgasket thickness. So however much the head and block (2 and 3) are short by, you add that amount to the stock headgasket thickness, 1.37 mm (he says "add it to 1" because the stock headgasket thickness was #1 on that list).

So for example, if your head measured .46 mm short and your block .17 mm short, your new headgasket thickness would be 1.37 + .46 + .17 = 2 mm.

Ya theres no way a tape measure is going to help you at all. You at least need a dial caliper, micrometer is best. Youre measuring thousanths of an inch so a tape measure is seriously useless.

Post some macro shots of the surface you are talking about

He said we can just lap it though.
