I think that the later models all had the same body harnesses, so the connectors would be there.

Unsure of when that was, but it might have been 90+

Yes, they were standardized late 89. Not sure about the 91/92 Canadian models because they added heated seats and the buttons replaced the TEMS switch so you couldn't have both, but I think they should still have connectors for TEMS.

I'd also like to know if I use a pre-89 dash harness with an 89+ cluster (with CRUISE light under the tach) if I could hard wire the light to work. Reason I ask is because I bought the 89 3spoke steering wheel and want the light to come on and get rid of the CRUISE switch beside my fog light switch. I just need to know because I want to purchase a pre-89 harness but don't know if I'll be able to get the light to function or if I'd have to get an 89+ harness.

Anyone know of any difference between an 87 canadian model and a 92 US model? Just want to make sure his harness will work.

I have an '88. Do you want a pic of where it plugs into the top of the shock? Here's a pic.. you may see what your looking for in it...

Thanks for the pic Grandavi, I appreciate it but it doesn't help much. I have an 87 without tems and I don't know what the 92 looks like anyways.

I have and additional question if someone would be able to give a definite answer. I'm not sure where the difference lies in the 89-92 vs the pre-89 supras when it comes to climate controls. Whether it's in the harness, ecu, or elsewhere. But if I were to use an 89+ harness with my 89+ CC in my 87 would my F/D (Foot/Defroster) setting now function?

The climate control is plug and play, no modifications needed and all functions will work.

I swapped an 89 CC into my girl's Supra and everything works the way it should.

I heard that the Foot/Defroster setting isn't supposed to work because it isn't offered on the older CC. I've never used it because I expected that it didn't work. When I head to school tomorrow I'll try it out and see what happens...but this is what I'm talking about. Just this one function.

If anyone knows for sure whether it is supposed to function or not feel free to respond.

Thanks.

Isn't the steering angle sensor in all supras? I think that's what you're talking about right?

Just a reminder to anyone reading:

- Still wondering if cruise light can still work (89+) by splicing into a pre-89 harness.
- Will update about the foot/defroster setting today after I try it. If it works I'll retract my question, if it doesn't I'd still like to know if an 89+ body harness will allow that mode to function. Thanks.

If you wanted to see what the plug looked like, I believe the Tems plug into the shock tower is at the front of the cover in the pic I put up.

Are you asking about the TEMS plug under the dash? I would assume they would have it on all (up to 92) versions, although I dont know that for a fact (so.. useless answer). Common sense would dictate, though, that if the plug is in the engine compartment, it would be under the dash as well.

I gotta pull my dash to replace some buttons and fix some wires, so while Im there, I can snap the pics if you dont have them by then. Probably pulling it on Sunday.

Thanks Grandavi, I appreciate the pics, going out and retaking and all. I never saw any of the connectors, before. I checked.

I was able to poke my finger in the driver's side finder grommet and retrieve a few connectors, it looks like TEMS connectors and makes sense that that's what they'd be. I took some pics. I'll post and compare. I wasn't able to find any on the passenger's side but if they are on the driver's side its good news because they're probably hiding in the fender. This makes things much easier.

Looks like a red/black and red/blue? wire going to the connectors. I'll check in the TEWD and confirm wire colors and get back to you with either good news or not so good news.

EDIT:

The wires pulled from the driver's fender show that according to the TEWD and the pictures posted by Grandavi that they are connectors for TEMS. Although it probably should, I'm not 100% convinced because when I did the e-brake cable, I removed the centre console and saw no connector for the control switch. I'll look more into this and let anyone who is following or anyone who joined us now whether my car is wired for TEMS or not and a more definite way to check.

I was advised to look for the TEMS ECU, which is a good idea. Wouldn't be there if the car wasn't TEMS ready. And if it's not there, then a plug for it would still be good enough for an answer for me.
