That car is hideous.

It recorded 571 bhp at just 1 bar of boost on its first trip to Santa Pod dragstrip and notched up an impressive 13.1-second quarter-mile time at 113 mph.
Simply pathetic. No other irs cars run that crap w/ that power, why supes? Ive seen several mkiii's including myself w/ 175 rwhp less trap ~107-110.

How is it 'hideous'?
Ever considered that the guy driving it is the problem, and not the car?

thats why its hideous. With that kind of power your making that slow of a time. In the article he did admit to spinning down most of the track so just some stickier rubber and more seat time he should be good to go. But back to the tranny and gearing. That has to be an aftermarket diff rite?

Im sure someone can correct this, but every place I looked, in order to find the gear ratio, you need several other variables, ie: tire size, rpm, etc. From SF:

Gear ratios
1st 3.25:1
2nd 1.95:1
3rd 1.31:1
4th 1.00:1
5th 0.75:1

Final drive
3.90:1

55 kph in first perhaps but unless they are spinning the car to 10k rpm in first gear. Than I can see 55 mph in first. Stock on a 3.91, first tops out at around 36 mph at 6500 rpm. Coincidentally. 55 kph = 34 mph so I was right! ;)

also keep in mind. Magazine are not their for technical accuracy unless it is a peer reviewed journal ;) They make the articles to sell magazines.

which speaking of

GT45 + giggle gas and a 13 s qtr mile? Seriously?

step 1.

Chuck those blasted 18 inch rubber and get some 16 inch rims and Drag Radials.

step 2.
Turn ALS on the AEM. Build positive boost at around 4500 rpm.

Step 3.
Modulate the CLUTCH. Damn geniuses that drop the clutch :madfawk:

step 4.
If no 10's by then. Fire driver!

Tell me about it. SCC misquoted me incorrectly several times in one article.

Everyone has a car no one else likes, get over it. A lot of Mkiii owners do stupid things, but to them it's what they like.

The transmission and gearing is correct, and figgie turned out to find his out, nice job there.
