hey guys...kinda new to the 7m world, well to the turbo world in all...i have built a few 5.0 mustangs but this is my turbo build:icon_bigg....a few weeks back i picked up a nice red 88 gte..it has a bhg, so the guy i bought the car from had a bunch of mk3 stuff for it because he was going to do a build on it awhile back but never did...so i bought every part he had..so i got a built 7m from him...it has wisco pistons hks metal h/g and arp head bolts..and also rc-550,LAFM, and a bunch of other stuff that dosent relate to this question..the ct-26 on the car is in great shape but i am thinking about doing the 57 trim...but whats involved?? can i keep the factory intercooler, injectors, afm, the motor should hold well with that trim but im just wondering the things that have to be changed with a 57 trim...this summer i just wanted to drive it with a litter more boost than factory, than this winter start the build with the 550s and the afm, intercooler....im shure this is such a noob question but i have done my search but i could dig a litter harder...i do remember a list of upgrades on one of the threads but now i cant find it for some reason...if somone has a link that would be great.....thanks for helping the noob!!

from my experiance, you can run the 57trim without any modifications, its a ct26 bored out with bigger wheels, same actual front/rear housing so stock intercooler piping /dump pipe are fine. stock coolant/oillines are ok too

the afm measures air entering the engine and calcuates fuel required based on this, changing the turbo will have minimal impact on this, sure the larger turbo will be more efficient but shouldn't cause your motor to run rich/lean, for lack of words perhaps someone could explain this better.

what i've noticed with a larger turbo is the boost cut "psi" is reduced (depending on ambient temprature and other factors)

i ran a 57trim for a while and i hit boost cut about 2psi lower than my stock ct26 did in the same conditions, They're is a guy on 7mpower running a 57trim and making well over 300rwkw.

if my t61 let go, id more than likely have my 57trim rebuilt and use that (leaky seals)

*EDIT* you can run it without any modifications HOWEVER you wont benefit much from it without running more boost, ct26 is happy at stock boost

Lets add some grammar in there before you post, ok?

Second, get the car, drive train, and vehicle as a whole up to snuff first.

Then focus on a healthy fuel system.

Then start upgrading your turbocharger.

Other than that, Paradox hit most of it on the head.

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?125172-Question-regarding-rebuilt-turbos...

I just asked this question on the Driftmotion page as well. My situation is that I NEED my car as a DD, and since I can't afford to drop the money on all the necessary mods to fully utilize the 57trim features, I don't want to have to pay out double for the turbo THEN the upgrade later on. If I can save money now by upgrading right away to 57trim with an AEM Truboost controller, then I should be fine provided I keep the settings at stock levels only, and ONLY UNTIL I have the funds to properly upgrade my air/fuel/O2 mods AND have them properly installed and tuned will I ever increase my boost.

The rate of oil burn and smoke dump when I get on the turbo is enough for me to have to park her until I resolve this problem, along with the failed water pump that I'll be fixing here next month.

EDIT: After my oil pump and all gaskets are replaced, this is what I'm looking at for the upgrades....

1: Supra MKIV internal fuel pump (may add the Walbro external pump as well)
2: 550cc (or higher) injectors
3: Wideband O2
4: SAFC
5: MAFTPro (matching the injector size I need)
