Question about CONDENSER FAN

Could somebody tell me why some MK3 turbos do not have A/C condenser fan? I hope somebody in these forum knows. THANKS

My A/C works fine. Im just really curious.

Mine has the fan, 88T.

Makes fitting the FMIC and oil cooler a royal PITA, but I wanted to keep the fan there.

Most pusher fans like this don't work as well as pulled ones however. (They push air at the condensor, but much of that air is just deflected and does not go through the cooling tubes/fins.)

In conjuction with a puller fan, a pusher can help out quite a bit however. (Like the stock setup with duel fans, one is belt driven with a clutch, and the other is temp/AC operated, and only comes on a various temps, and with AC use.) Much like your smaller puller fan(s) on the back side of the radiator. They only come on when they are needed, but being a puller, they are more effective than if they were mounted on the other side of the core support.

One huge key here. Do not ditch your stock fan shroud. I see so many MK3's with no shrouds, and owners complaining of cooling problems.

The fan clutch on belt driven fans wears out. They are not much to replace at NAPA. The shroud keeps the air from escaping around the edges, and makes your fans more effective and drawing air across/through the core support. (Radiator, condensor, oil cooler etc.)

Same goes for the under cover. It keeps air from just spilling down under the car after it comes in through the grilles. Also smooths air under the front of the car, creating downforce at high speeds. (Makes your car more stable at high speed, and improves cooling.. best of both worlds.)



As far as why some MK3's do not have them? I've noticed it was the later models with no front fans, and dual electric fans on the puller side. (The 88 T I have only has one electric puller fan, and one larger electric pusher your asking about.)

You can just see the grille screen for my pusher fan below the oil cooler, and behind and between the FMIC and condensor on my car. (The stock oil cooler is now my PS cooler, and it's located on the left side between the FMIC and Condensor..) Tough to see it however.

Because they were removed. Also the A340E equiped cars have the extra one. I saw a condensor in all the pics except the socal pic, to which I do not subscribe. Unless you have pics from the back side of the radiator.

It's just because people take them off. They all had them at least on the back of the radiator.
