No the V-Pro is not a standalone system.. It is close to it, but not standalone(Although you could make it one, but we wont get into that now.. lol). Things like idle control, relay activation, ect.. remain controller by your factory ECU (since the VPro is piggybacked into your harness).. They do not make a P&P harness for any 7M series motor. The 1JZ and 2JZ (of all ecu configurations) are available however. Making one work in a 7M would require you to adapt your CPS as well as install a crank trigger. So pretty much if you are looking for a P&P EMS for a 7M, the AEM is your best option.
As far as tuning, we offer travel tuning services and our main tuner (John Reed) is frequently tuning in Germany. We are an HKS Certified Pro dealer.
Ah you're right, the don't have a PnP harness for the 7M, so a universal harness would have to be used, but why would you need to adapt the CPS? I'm sure the V-pro could run a waste spark system. Hell, if it runs on any 1JZ or 2JZ, I'm sure it could handle a 7M.
As for the V-pro not being a standalone... Out of the box is does piggyback in, and leave some things under the control of the stock ECU, BUT it doesn't have to. The V-pro can control them, and run in full standalone if you want it to.
I got mine tuned at RCTS here in Calgary (
www.monsterhorsepower.com). The cost of tuning was pretty cheap, he just flashed another setup from another JZA70 they have at the shop, then spent an hour with it on the dyno making sure it worked out. Now, cost for materials, that's a different story
