stock heatshield, this thing is made out of crappy potmetal with alot of bends, but it still turned out good; not show quality but much, much better than stock:

here's a closeup of the impurities in the metal, makes it near impossible to completely smooth out:

Looks very clean, I know how much work you put into these parts and I look up to you. This will be the first and only (As of now) thread I am subscribing to.

EDIT: Wow, I just noticed you were in Kentucky also! I guess Kentucky can claim the polishing state!

88tsupra: yes i did everything myself, using mostly power tools and alot of different items.

valve covers took about 8-10 hours each (not exactly sure) and they could be show quality with another 4-5 hours total time

turbo took about 5-6 hours

heatshield took about 3 hours

i did the lower timing cover, but i'm going to get it acid dipped, so i took down the pics. i am working on a stock afm housing this weekend, since i did so much last weekend i wanted to take the week off from polishing. after the afm housing, the tems covers, power steering resevoir, and i may do the altenator just to see what it looks like, but it will probably use up alot of materials, so idk about the altenator.

also on the list is the eaton m-62 supercharger and valvecover on my cobalt, i should have those done by spring. the supercharger is going to be a 12+ hour job cause i want it to be show quality.

Damn that's some nice polishing, your fingers must be skinless. :)

Are you using power tools or just using pieces of sandpaper?

machines, power tools, beer, time etc... sandpaper and about 20 other products are involved between the beer and time :biglaugh:
