So im doing an oil change tomorrow, and im changing from Fram to Pureone oil filters. So I was wondering what the prices were on Pureone oil filters or Napa Gold oil filters? Hopefully my local Pepboys will have the Pureone oil filters. Thanks

they run about the same prices as the frams. i use to use the mobil's made by champion labs, they are like $10. napa golds are great, cheap like fram and better than both.

PepBoys should have the PureOnes (they do in Phoenix)...make sure the filter is blue (not white).

Conventional Oil Filters

I like Wix myself, but the PureOne is just as good...the difference is the Wix flows a bit better...the PureOne filters out finer particulates. I'm using a bypass filter that filters down to 1 micron, so I want the flow a Wix provides.

K&N is a Champion Labs filter...same company that makes Mobil One. The Mobil One filter uses a synthetic media though. Both are good filters, but over priced...a Wix or PureOne does a better job and is cheaper. BTW - Walmart SuperTech filters are made by Champion Labs too ;)

yea, I've read that before, wix is my #1 choice still, i settle for K&N when I cant get a wix. Wix filters are hard to find in my area.

Rock Auto carries Wix filters:

And, NAPA Gold filters are a Wix. The PureOnes are good...used them for a while on my auto tranny before I switched over to a Trasko bypass filter.

PureOne filters usually run around $5.99 a piece. As mentioned before Pep Boys does sell them. X87 and I have something in common. We both work at Pep Boys lol. Store 182 ftw! Lol. I hate this place around now. Returns like crazy so that means me or the other manager are going to be getting called to the register every 10 seconds.

As I understand it, the pure one does a good job filtering out the smallest of particals, but unfortunately does not flow to well due to it's many (64) pleats.

Whereas the K&N is 55 pleats, has a better drain back valve (thicker body too as I remember) and flows quite a bit better. Which is why I switched to K&N given the 7M's somewhat low oil pressure. They are overpriced though.

I'm sure there is more to it, but that's what I can remember.

True, but the PureOne flows well enough to meet the needs of the 7M oil system easily. I cut the case off a PureOne and it is plenty thick enough to meet just about any pressure you will see on a 7M. If you want more flow, the Wix is the best choice. The K&N has the bypass valve at the top of the filter...the Wix has it at the opening. A better design IMO...especially considering you will pay less for the Wix.
