Oh for crying out loud, not this nonsense again.

This depends... on a LOT. Ambient temp, barometric pressure, humidity, engine compression, condition of engine, what turbo, exhaust, intercooler type, placement, and volume, size of IC pipes, fuel delivery system, even temperature of the fuel, and another thousand other variables that I'm not going to go into.

This is why tuners are still required... they tune *your* car for the conditions you drive in. Anyone saying that 20psi is too much without all the rest of the information is talking out their ass.

Generally speaking in regards to an engine built for the power level, i wouldn't go above 15-16psi or so without race fuel or methanol. This is because if you get a batch of shit fuel, a really hot day, hot spot in the cylinder or any number of factors that would promote detonation it could get dangerous much higher then that. 20psi is a delicate balancing act on pump fuel alone IMO.

Running boost above that on pump fuel should be tuned on a dyno by a professional to ensure safety.

Though im conservative when it comes to my engine and tune. To me its not worth junking a motor for 50 horsepower.

i am tuned and have a good air to fuel at 20lbs but some say thats not safe on 91 octane

Aren't you the guy that has 10:1 AFR's?

...........its hard to turn it down. kinda addicted!!!!! my air to fuel is a consistant 10.6-10.7 tho. it is tuned and not lean at all. whaty if i get bigger injectors and run e85 can i boost 20lbs on that all day?

Far from "good" it's pig rich.....

Just as a general rule of thumb I have seen many of the bigh hp mk4 tuners say that 18 psi is about the max you want to go with pump gas. Some people have "tuned" there car to run 22-24psi on pump gas but usually this is using severly retarded timing and actually makes about the same power as ~18 psi with the correct timing. As everyone does say all cars are slightly different though.

IJ, my car runs the same A/F ratio under boost with the stock Fueling and the AFM screw adjusted all the way out. As I understand it that is just how supras are in mostly stock form, PIG rich.

Stock mapping is generally over 75% throttle open the taps, just means production cars are too rich to hurt themselves so less issues for the manufacturers and people accept that if you floor it it's going to suck the fuel down.

There's a LOT of power/economy hiding if you pull it back to 12:1ish.

I was running 24psi in my 7M on 93 pump+ methanol injection and 8.26:1 comp.
(meth allowed me to crank some more timing in)

Well, I was just making sure that was a normal A/F for mostly stock supras, I am aware that running a little more lean gets err a bit more POWA :)

GrimJack, what the hell is your problem? Stop answering things in this thread and get back to making your 2JZ more shiney and powerful with that nice Meth kit. Remember what Dom said, "Only Pussies Run Meth," you should give him a call. LOL!
