So, Im going to be buying a ps3 tomorrow prolly. Ive herd so many rumors lately about a new possible 120g, DS3 bundle coming soon though.

Id prolly go 80g but could careless about motostorm and backwards compatibility isnt a big deal either. So, is the rumor suggesting any time soon or still a ways off?

I just read somewhere gameshops are pulling the 80g models off the shelf to go back to sony. A manager said they are going to rebundle with the ds3 in place of motostorm. Sounds like total garbage but when does a shop Turn down a sale when they have the systems right there...

So... should I just buy tomorrow and be done or hold off a few more days/weeks.

when it comes to electronics: the second you buy it, it's already outdated..

if you want all kinds of nifty gadgets and insane ROM speeds and stupidly huge hard-drives, then just go out and build yourself a gaming computer..

if all you wanna do is have fun playing video games, get yourself a used gameboy like me and rock the fuck out...

Yea... well I have a gameboy color and a DS which I love. I want a ps3 for some games the gameboy just cant seem to display on my 60" hd tv :naughty:

I just dont want to buy and next week the new model drops. If I buy tomorrow and a month goes by before the new model thats fine ha.

buy the 40GB. i bought mine from dell.ca and got ratchet&clank and an hdmi cable for free. you can upgrade the hard drive with pretty much any size you want (it's a standard 2.5" hard drive). aside from the hard drive size, the only difference is useless things like a card reader and 2 extra usb ports.

i use mine to play games, watch movies, and stream media from my computer (the 40GB has wireless just like the 80GB)

That sucks - I wouldn't care if the PS3 was a little bigger to accommodate, so long as they took 3.5" hard drives instead. 2.5" = smaller capacity = laptop = more expensive because of it's physical size.

The major downside to the 40GB is the lack of PS2 game support. I'm somewhat regretting getting my 80GB unit. Everyone else I know has the original 60GB and I'm used to that. Having issues playing PS2 games is balls. :(

That being said I do still have my PS2, and I almost exclusively use the PS3 for PS3-related things ;).

I bought my 80GB at Best Buy on Thursday. They had loads of them, but that might just be a Canadian thing. EDIT: Yeah it's still on the Canadian website. Not on the USA one though.

I haven't read anything official from Sony though, just rumours of a 120GB Dual Shock version to replace it.

I haven't read anywhere that the 80GB was gone, except for this thread, lol.

Jeff

The rumors are all over, especially about best buy not selling the 80gig anymore. The rumor supposedly comes from a best buy manager getting an updated planOgram. The 80gig ps3 is not showing up on that shelf plan, but its not replaced with anything either...

Other rumors are coming because of the game dev. conf. happening next week. Big rumors are sony is going 2 skus, one high end 120-180g drive and keeping the low end. No clue on price drops though, seems prices stay the same but bundles change. The low end will drop spiderman for the DS controller, high end gets a new game and DS controller.

Biggest rumor, will be no more backwards compatibility for the ps3 future. At least not right out of the box, might become a pay download service.

Its all rumor though, not a thing has been official other than sony made an odd comment. Supposedly when asked about the rumors they didnt use their usual response to rumors. Something like 'we dont comment on rumors' being the norm and 'we have no comment at this time' was used instead. Fanboys jumped all over that as 'official confirmation'.
