The slim is still just an educated guess, but the price drop is the real deal as some stores in Europe already jumped the gun and slashed the price 100 bucks.
Very curious to see the specs of the slim if it does indeed come out in the near future.

The slim isn't an educated guess. There are a large large amount of evidence to support it. Considering they are no longer stocking those PS3 SKU's in Japan and Europe....
Why does it have to look so ugly? PS1 was ugly, PS2 looked pretty nice, PSPs look nice. PS3? Bleh.. they really lost this time. For the first time in a long time, Nintendo actually has the best looking console. I know most games for the Wii are not my usual favorites, but it is the only of the three in the current generation of consoles that I wouldn't feel I had to hide behind a panel or door in an entertainment center due to blatant ugliness.
I know this all sounds very superficial. HD gaming is a luxury, though. Personally, I won't buy anything from this generation of consoles until I can afford a nice TV and sound system to support it, and when I do buy those components, I'd like for them to be close to, or matching colors; no rag-tag X-Box sitting in a red cherry-stain TV stand and a black TV with silver DVD/VCR setup; I want to "do it right", and would like my AV components to look nice, like they are all meant to be there.

PS3 slim looked nice from the rumored pictures I saw. PS3 fat should have been square so you can stack on it.

The thing I hate most about all the next gen consoles is the lack of manual loading ability (like ps1, ps2 slim). Most of the broken consoles I have seen, that aren't RROD or disk read errors, have broken disk tray motors.
I have xbox360 and wii. I have been waiting for a ps3 price drop, but if they make a slim with a open top setup Ill get that.

Not worth it if it's going to be watered down with no HDD, usb slots, CF slot, or micro sd etc...
price drops are confirmed in canada. i just went into work today and a sony rep came by and said that they were all going to drop about 100 dollars or so.
