Ok lemme start this build thread by stating the intentions of the car. I'm a huge road racing fan and have always wanted to build a race car. This is going to be built for NASA Pro Touring. The car is a 1988 N/A hardtop. I'm putting a 1UZFE with a single turbo swap in the car. Lets begin!

The Car (when it was a parts car/junk storage):

Tommorrow will start the gutting out of the car's interior. As soon as it's gutted it will be sent to a chassis shop to put in a 12 point roll cage. Hopefully the V8 will show up tommorrow. It's out of a Lexus LS400 I believe.

Ok guys I have about 95% of the interior gutted. It rained all day and I don't have a garage. I'll take pictures of the progress tommorrow and post them. I called up the chassis guy and he's coming to pick the car up tommorrow. The 1UZFE still hasn't shown up yet though. Overall a slow day.

Ok guys today I continued to work on gutting out the car. It's almost complete with the exception of the carpet and driver side door panel. Heres some photos of the progress...

Ripping out the headliner:

Backseat area...spare W58 and a 7MGE block:

Passenger side door area. Keeping the glass and stuff in but i'm removing the drivers side for a racing net:

Passenger side....those wires are from some damn stereo system the previous owner put in. I'm still trying to find the damn grounds:

Sorry about the quality. It was getting dark and my camera sucks...As for the engine managerment system I'm going to use the stock ECU unless it won't handle 10psi. I'm only shooting for a reliable 350ish rwhp. I'ma run the stock engine with MHG's and ARP studs. The guy bringing the 1UZ still hasn't dropped by. I think he's bringing it tommorrow but i'm changing an auto tranny in a 1JZ so I probably won't get a lot done tommorrow.

its gonna be tough to make this car competitive in the PTX classes odds are youll be better off in SU

the PT classes are points based and im pretty sure when you send your hp and trq numbers to the PT leader he will class you straight into like pta and then youll have very little points to spend before you end up in SU anyway

Probably but I can always add weight to lower my class. Luckily being a stock N/A when I started adding up points i was in the lowest PTX class. (FF or something like that...) The number shouldn't be too high my only problem is so far is getting them to approve the engine swap. If I can't be competitive in NASA i'll try SCCA or give it a lot more power for PTA or SU.

I've been itching to swap a 1uz into an AE86 for a little while now. I hope you're getting an earlier 1uz, they cheaped out on the connecting rods on the later engines and they didn't tend to like boost so much.

From a 1991 LS 400 or somthing like that. My friend and I are putting a 2JZGE in a gutted AE86 for drifting haha. I'm build the 2J and working on the 1UZ...i've got too many projects...
