wow man, that looks simply awesome... I used some dupli-colour interior/carpet paint on my steering column and it turned out great. It's more of a dye than a paint, almost dries instantly. Painted a floor mat with it just to try it and it looked likea brand new black floor mat (was stained grey before)...

But, based on your results with the SEM stuff, if I decide to paint my interior I will be going with sem aswell. I just had a can of the duplicolour in my garage. Plus I work at lordco (like autozone in the states), and I get an amazing discount on the SEM products we sell!

I read on the can that they offer a medium-gloss and high-gloss clear coats, depending on what sheen you want. The regular sheen is quite nice, not too flat. I figure if I want a high-gloss, armour-all or a similar product would work and be removeable.

I am actually surprised how little ive gone through. I have finished almost 4 cans and all I have left is what I have stated above.

***Important Question***

The panel right behind the targa on the roof is falling off from the back. I tried looking under it and there doesnt seem to be any bolts holding it down. I tried using 3M spray glue to stick it back on, but that failed. I am scared to try to get it off since it seems to be connected to the bolts on the targa. What do I do do get it to stick back on without having to remove it?

First off, props on your results. Not many people can paint with a rattle can and get the color even. Looks like stock. I've used the SEM trim black for alot of little stuff like moldings and stuff. Definately get some pics up when you get it in the car.

Thanks guys for the support.

Unfortunately I didnt get any more painting done today, partly because it was raining most of today.

I did get to back in my car part way in my garage and clean out the dirt, grime, wet insulation, and the flooding out of the hatch under the false board though. It was so disgusting, I didnt even want to tackle it at first. It took 4 rolls of paper towel and half a bottle of degreaser to get it pretty clean. I could wipe all day and would still get brown residue on my paper towel. I figured it was good enough after 2 full hours of wiping even in that small area. Its still a bit greasy here and there, but I accomplished what I wanted.

At least now I know why there is a huge puddle of water in the rear quarter well where the compartment is. There is a huge gap on the very right of the right tailight. I can almost stick a finger in there!!! I will get a picture within the next hour or so along with a pic of how clean the hatch looks.

I have been cursed with the smell of dirty car every time I get into the Supra. It makes me not want to drive it. You know, that musty old car smell. Well since I cleaned the hatch out, scrubbing every nook and cranny, I went to back it into the garage some more and I had a huge smile come across my face. My car has never smelled so clean since the 3 years I have owned it. I knew at that point in time that I had actually progressed with my project and that I would be completely and utterly happy with the end results.

This SEM paint stinks pretty instensely. Hopefully it airs out fast and doesn't linger by the time I resintall it. My whole house smells like paint fumes, even though the paint is bone dry and I've aired out the garage 3 times.

I must say everything looks great! You did a really good job! But the owner who had my supra before me painted the whole interior a dark grey color. And a few months of me driving it and using the car, The paint started to wear off in obviose places. Such as the door handles, center console, and the glove box. So i dont know if he used a bad product. I initially thought that any paint for vinyl & plastic wouldnt last long at all. But after going through this thread, im thinking its not true, but im not sure. But im curious to know. :)

I may be installing everything tomorrow. It depends on a few factors.

I will bet that even in high wear spots, this paint will last 2-3 years easily. I am that confident in this paint.

Update:

I did the sun visors and A pillar a couple hours ago. Tomorrow I will be painting the carpet, the panel where the sun visors go and the dash. Then I will be officially done.

Ok, ok.. I've been slacking. I know it. :(

Well I have some updates :D

I painted my dash today. I have pictures in day time for 3 coats and my final coat was done at night so I won't have pictures of that until tomorrow.

I ended up painting the carpet in the process. Its not as good as I expected however. I drove with it for a week and it wore off from my feet pretty quickly, but I am not worried because I just put a mat in there this afternoon.

Here are some pictures of the steps it took to paint the dash.

This is after applying some plastic prep. It really eats all the grease. Even the colour of the dash!

I then applied the first dusted coat of paint after applying some Sand Free Primer. You are supposed to paint over the sand free primer while it is still wet.

Tomorrow, hopefully, I will be able to install the rest of my interior, weather permitted of course though.
