I'm really digging this 2005 Honda Rune Candy Black Cherry color. One paint guy told me that Honda keeps the formulas for their paints secret. Is this true? Anyone know where I would get the actual breakdown/formula for this color? How do you guys think this would this look on a Supra?

Just find the color code. The paint shop will be able to order it from a supplier. Alternatively (and more expensively), you can buy the paint you need directly from the manufacturer (i.e. a parts department).

You can usually find color codes easily, but if you need help with one, I can look it up for you.

Here's a source for the rune color:

http://www.colorrite.com/CRPLfactoryColors.php?appID%5B%5D=2309&typeID=2&appYear=2005&appManuf=Honda&IsStreet=1&IsDirt=&imageField.x=24&imageField.y=8

You can also usually find a site like this:

I updated the bike photos above. Check out how the color changes in different lighting. Wow!!!

The local paint shops can't get the paint codes for this color. The code is R287, but nothing comes up on their computers. It looks like I would have to buy the paint directly from ColorRite if I want this exact color, which would be around $2k.

It's too new of a color IMO for the Supra. Go simple and with the body being wild, it won't stand out too much.

I also edited your title Brad since it's not begun but almost finished. Sad to see it take this long but I guess that's what happens with some shops these days. They just don't care like they used to..

That's reasonable for a specialty metallic paint - especially a motorcycle paint that is not usually sold in the same volume.

Let me know how much paint you need - I may be able to get some from Honda directly.

If I can find a color chip, I may be able to mix something close for you using a different base.

Don't be so mean to Randy, Duane. Not nice to pick on people. ;)

I'll have to agree with Duane on the paint, it is a bit flashy IMO. Have you seen the 91-92 burg supra color? Same color as Tom's car. I think it would suit your car *Borat voice* verrrrrrry nice

not .... IMHO :evil2: That car in THAT color would cause multiple premature accidents, and make many women want to service whoever is driving it immediately.

The photos of this color vary so much, so I've ordered from ColorRite the 2-part aerosol paints that make this color, plus another simpler Yamaha color "Very dark red metallic". I want to see how these colors look in real life, and I have not seen a single OEM car color I want yet. Seems only the bikes get the cool cherry colors. :)

For this car I'm going for a fully updated modern look, like a 2008 concept car, and it will have clear marker lights all around with LED's/HID's.

^ exactly, where are the progress pics, we'll settle for smeared body filler and primer. I am dieing to see how the body flows together now. Hows that interior coming along?
