Progressive vs Linear Spring Rates

I'm looking at pulling out the old suspension this summer and swapping in Tokico Illuminas so as to keep the TEMS working, but I haven't decided what to do about springs yet. I know Eibach is a popular choice, but my impression is that their progressive spring rate makes for a slightly unpredictable ride. I don't remember who is was, but I do also recall someone talking about a set of springs with a linear rate. Can anyone chime in here and set me straight about the ride quality of Eibachs and the differences between progressive and linear rates?

Thanks!

PS - I know Tein makes some good coilovers for our cars, but do any of their sets work with TEMS? I'd like to keep TEMS working just for the novelty of it...

First off, most springs for our cars are progressive unless you get custom springs. I believe only the Intrax springs are linear.

As for TEMS, no aftermarket coilover works with TEMS as far as I know. The TEIN EDFC is very similar to TEMS though not automatic.

If you are going to be road racing or autoxing than linear springs might be better for you. However, I have seen some very good progressive setups. it is all about driving style.

ST, Tokico and Intrax are the only linears I can think of offhand.

Tein EDFC is like TEMS on steroids. You really can't appreciate how much better the Tein system is until you've experienced it.
