Well, after replacing the Type R wastegate diaphram, thinking that was my problem with it not opening (and it looked worn out), gate still would not open. So I did a little thread search and found a suggestion to bypass the boost controller, so I did. Waste gate opens now. so what the hecks wrong with the controller??
I'm pretty sure that the controller NC connection is robbing the pressure to the wastegate bottom connection as they are "t" fitted together.
I plan to run a sepatate pressure line to the nc port and see what happens but that leads me to the question. Does the valve unit controll boost by robbing pressure from top connection of the wastegate or does it do it by restricting air vented from the bottom connection of the wastegate? Or both?
I took the valve unit apart and found a small amount of trash in it, but nothing looked worn. I would like to test it, but need to know if it is activated with 12 volts or does run on a separate lower volt system?
These valve units have three ports, a COM, a NO, and a NC. I had to switch the NO to the NC when I went to the single setup (greddy install manual). Shouldn't I plug off the NO port now that it isn't used or is that how the Valve unit breaths. There wasn't a plug in the NC port before I connected into it (could had fallen out and didn't see it). Greddy instructions are vague

I hooked up the vent line from the wastegate to the controller Com side and it didn't do anything. Then I ran a line to the NC side of the controller (valve) to another boost pressure location independant of the wastegate and again got no action from the controller. I know now that it is either a problem with the controller valve, the controller itself or a short in the wires somewhere.
I think I have had this problem for a while as the last set of twins were constantly overboosting no matter how I set the controller.
The other problem I have, which isn't as important is that now that the controller is out of the picture, the wastegate is opening too soon. From no adjustment to the spring compressed all the way in, I'm maxing out at 10.5 PSI. For the hell of it, I adjusted the BOV to almost no spring pressure, then ran it in to almost full spring pressue and saw no difference

Ok, assuming you're running a two port wastegate on your single setup:

The bottom port on the wastegate should be connected to your intake manifold. The top port, will be connected to the COM port on the boost control solenoid. The NO port on the solenoid should be connected to your intake manifold as well. The NC port should be left OPEN. It needs to be open to bleed off pressure.

Hey i was told my NC port should be blocked off.. as it comes with the block off peice from greddy... What differences is it on or off ?

Blow into the boost line (NC) and see if there is any resistance(with COM off)? it shouldn't flow at all. I bet the solenoid is bad. COM and NO should flow freely.

External 2 port wastegates are designed to bleed pressure into the top of the wastegate to assist the spring to boost higher.

you got this shit all mixed up.

here's how i ran mine and it works great.

com port - connect to top port of wg
NC port - teed off to bottom port of wg and compressor outlet
NO port - no connection leave unplug

LMAO @ the turbo drawing.. very informative tho.. You excluded the 3rd port that is not in use.. is that to be blocked.. because mine came with a block off and i used it in the un-used spot..

I know this is a late reply, but the problem was the solenoid. I took it apart several times and couldn't find anything wrong, but decided it was the only thing it could be. I replaced it and was right. I think it was bad a long time as I had the same problem with the twins and thought it was a problem with the actuators or linkage
Thanks for your imput.
