problems with MBC...

I know this has been covered but I cant search for MBC since its too small...


okay I bought a adj. manual boost controller, and installed it correctly,

one line off the turbo nipple, and the other to the wg actuator,
and the hose is only about 8" long on each side,

I took it out and I adjusted it a few different times, and it never really worked..
the first time I had it all the way shut and it hit the normal 7 psi,
then I pulled over and opened it up about 1 full turn, and drove it again,
same, still only 7psi, so I adj. it again about 2 full turns, and still only 7 psi,
so I just opened it 1 more full turn, and drove it, and still only 7psi...

I am wondering if the mbc is broke....

or maybe I have the lines ran backwards....

I have a aftermarket gauge,
I dont have any boost leaks either, ( I just checked like last week with a home made checker )

and I didnt really notice a difference,

I did notice the boost seem'ed to almost go lower, with each turn,

in the top of 3rd I was getting to almost 9 psi, and almost to 10psi at the verry top of 4th. ( before controller )
It is like 30deg. here and I have full 3" Turbo back exhaust, and a intake filter,

I am thinking I might have it hooked up backwards,

If I were to switch the lines around , and say I orig. had them ran the correct way, is there anything bad that would happen ( would it spike or hit fuel cut or anything )

I think I might just go swap them around to eliminate that question...

well I think the only "wrong" way to do it, would be to have the lines swapped around,

what I did was,

took off the factory vac. line that goes inbetween the turbo nipple and the wg actuator,

and I just connect the MBC with two lines, inbetween the nipple and actuator..

I will just switch the lines around to check,
but I want to know if anything bad could happen from that..

I mean is the worst that will happen is I hit fuel cut..?

The worst that will happen is you will hit fuel cut. Also, you bought a bleed type MBC. It would be better to get a ball and spring boost controller. I got mine from Dr. Jonez for something like $25 shipped.

^ ditto, i installed that same mbc on a dsm. You ebay'd it didnt you? :)

the arrow is where the line from the turbo goes. the other goes to the wg.

On my MBC fully tightened is max boost. There should have been some directions with that MBC...or else its just dumb and dangerous.

when i installed mine, had the same issue however it seemed to b either 7psi, orrr no limit psi and id hit fuel cut...i then figured out MINOR adjustments..im talkin quarter turn u gain 2 psi type thing. My lines where hooked up backwards but all that did on mine was make the adjustments backwards(i.e turning right would increase boost...reverse lines, turning right decresed boost) but just VERY small adjustments

Personally... I ran an MBC for quite sometime and you'll be lucky to get it to stay.. In second gear I could hit only 13 psi, but in 3rd I could hit 19, and in 4th I could anywhere from 17-23 on the stock Ct...

yea I thought tightening was lower boost, but I didnt tighten it,
I just turned it the direction on the top of the nob the says "-" and the other direction says "+"

I havnt swapped them around yet, but I will do that right now
