problems after hg repair

I'd say timing. The ECU mod's the timing while the car is cold (retards it, i think), then once the car warms up, the ECU advances it.

Check your base timing.

how am i gonna drain it? take the tank off? or what

There is a drain plug in the middle of tank on the bottom.
takes a couple of minutes to do-

i have a very similar problem, only no backfiring, but tons of sputtering, i dont know how to check timing, and i run EXTREMELY rich, like clouds of black smoke, and it runs better cold. but it also sounds like i have a hose leak somewhere. any suggestions or helpful hints, oh and lemme know how you fix your problem.

ok i drained my tank and i'm gonna refill it tommorrow and replace a few misc gaskets and i'll tell you guys if that is what my problem was.
