Ok hi everyone, I own a 1989 supra 7mgte and I recently have been having problems with power steering. first problem being a leaking high pressure hose going to the pump itself which I replaced today and flushed the system and obviously new fluid put in after all.

Now my newest issue which was also happening prior to switching the hose is I can't seem to figure out why my car is having a Tuff time turning from left to right at idle rpm.??? She seems stiff and makes a little noise while turning at idle rpm speeds, however if I rev her up a little or when i start her up in the morning and my revs are naturally up she doesn't act up at all while turning.??? :1zhelp:

I have turned her back and forth with the cap off the fill up container and ran her around then let her idle trying to bleed any air that might have been in the system out but to no avail.

At this point any suggestions as to what might be wrong with the steering in my baby would be very much appreciated as I have done some research on this issue and have seen others with it but no answers on what it is and or how to fix it.

Thanks to anyone taking the time to read this post and for anyone who wishes to share there thoughts

Subscribed. I would like to learn about this as well, only thought was the vsv valve on the power steering pump.

Ready to learn!

yezer!
I have read on a few different forums about this issue and some people have even swapped PS pumps and still have the issue after?
Possibly they swapped in a second faulty pump?? I'm hoping to find a been there done that person on here and save myself some ching.

zzzzzzzzzzz time for .

When you reach full lock, and try to turn further, do the revs raise?
If it does, the Air Control Valve that Jdub is talking about is working the way it should.

You said the high pressure line to the pump itself... as in between the pump and rack? thats the only one thats a high pressure line. Or are you talking about the line from the resivour to the pump?

Does your pump whine? how bad was the leaking powersteering line? PPS?

Ok so I just went out and ran her to temp then turned her full lock both ways a couple times and the revs will go down upon reaching full lock instead of raising a little at that point.

Yes the high pressure line to the rack from the pump is the one I replaced and it had two 1/4 inch cracks in the rubber part of it. not a bad leak at all not a constant flow of fluid pouring out.

As far as the pump it does make noise but only when trying to turn at idle not a high pitched one just a little hmmm going on.

That being said it sounds to me from what u described to be a air control valve. I will look into replacing it and what is involved in that now.

Thankyou guy's for your thoughts/inputs, I appreciate it very much you save me time, hassle and $$$$$!:werd:
