As most of you know ive had my sc300 1jz for many many years. My car is misfiring or its on limp mode ; i really dont know and have run out of ideas. Im going to try to describe it as much as possible. I dont know if this is weather related but there was a shortage at the coilpacks the previous day. I swapped in new coil pack set and the car seems to be in "Limp Mode" with a bunch of fuel delivery .Tested the packs and also tested the spark and coil packs. I have a single turbo ,safc, wideband , and 440 injectors. I start up the car and it shakes . Then shaking gets suttle as the if it were compensating. My problem lies in where i drive the car and at 700 rpm it misfires and is blocking me from going any faster. Is it a bad ecu ? Suggestions? Anything would help.

Have you tried checking the coil pack connectors?

I just had mine fall apart on one coil pack and its does exactly what you described. Try disconnecting one coil pack at a time and see if it makes a difference.

And yes the an ecu with faulty caps can also be causing you to have problems.

Lucky for you, Ive had both scenarios occur...lol :1zhelp:

yeah i tried that as well no difference stayed the same. I think its a possibility of a bad connector or worse case a burnt circuit . Either or im going to use to new connectors tomorrow and give it another test run to see if that might be the problem. Im just hoping the ECU didnt take a dump on me.

When was the last time you checked the caps in your ECU?

I have also heard our cam position sensors and their wiring can give the 1JZ problems.

What about the sensors and their wiring?
Wires ,cps , all good completely took a part the ecu and it smelled burnt out .I checked all the capsitors and theyre all fine. There is no real way to tell, one of them might of took a crap internally. So i think the ecu is bad and will find out tomorrow as a buddy of mine has one. Easiest way to tell

Problem solved. It was a bad rubber housing on the coilpack connector along with a bad coilpack. Also bad gap in my plugs :icon_bigg
