will higher compression give more torque? (i assume yes) so im thinking 8.8:1 compression (just to get the ball rolling). I like the piston ring sizes but main concern is the compression since im planing on shooting meth.

Here's some info I found on the following pistons from their respective websites. Problem is, they don't release the info on their G-damn skirt lengths:

A Wiseco with less compression *would* be very nice...

The thing is, I want this to be a COMMUNITY effort - I'd like to get information from all of the main players - people that have played with the other forged pistons. There is ZERO reason, since we can have these made any way we want for $292.50/set, to have a piston that doesn't address any issues anyone can think of!

I, for one, am not cool with the short skirt of the JEs, for example.

Exactly! I want my cylinder walls to last, and I don't car about having a light piston to rev this engine to the moon. I want a heavier, reliable piston that won't wear on the engine and can take some detonation and keep going. ;)

im in, as long as you are not asking for the money right away. way too many great group buys lately.:aigo:

so they will be recomending 3 thou clearance for these? that seems kind of tight but would be awesome if true. thats even tighter than the CP pistons. from what i got from another thread:
Ross 0.006
JE 0.004
CP 0.0035
Probe 0.003

Ross at 6 will rattle when cold :(

Also if you have coatings applied you'll need to drop it a thou or so for the same reason (coatings prevent the piston expanding as much so rattle)

Cold start slap doesn't sound too sweet, especially here in Canadia ;)
I would also prefer a long skirt like the Wiseco pistons, and a close to stock compression. Then again, I don't have much clue on the effects that each parameter has on an engine. Maybe some of the more experienced guys could pipe in and share their...epxerience ;)

Toby, that's what we're looking for, more experience!

I'm going to run 4 thou on these pistons, most likely - I don't want to sieze one because I got lean and expanded the piston ;)

Ian, what thoughts do you have, on an optimal piston?

Dow: If you're building these for the majority of the guys long skirts and stock thickness rings would be a step in the right direction, the after market covers the high end race type parts nicely but for DD mid hp cars there's stock or ummm stock....

That's true IJ. These pistons would mainly be for those not looking for crazy HP but want something that'll hold up against higher boost levels.

I figure with the amount of $$$ in my motor the JE's are a very small % but would have preferred thicker rings and maybe a little longer skirt as I tend to pile up the KM's when it's actually running.

The longer skirts is a definite plus in my book - why the thicker rings, though? I would think a slightly thinner ring than stock would help remove some friction... Let's discuss some of these parameters!

The Wisecos are 317 grams, stock sized - I'd like to aim for about 325 ish - how does that sound, compared to stock?

A thicker ring set will yeild longevity for the ring. IE, more surface to wear on the ring. A sharp pencil dulls quickly.

I'd prefer a lighter piston, aprox 290-300g, similar to the CP's or JE's.....

Weight:
Stock pistons.... 366g
JE................... ~293g depending on bore
Ross................ 357 Grams
Arias(??).......... 310 Grams
CP ...................301 Grams @ 84mm bore.
