Probe Forged Pistons: You want 'em? GB!

I'll make this simple.

We've all heard that Probe Industries is slated to make us some forged pistons, without raping us on the price.

I just got off the phone with Eric over there, and they don't believe there is a giant demand, so they are taking their sweet time on making them.

I asked him "Hey Eric, what if we got like... 10 people wanting to throw down right now - would that light a fire under their ass?" "Well, John - if you had 10 people wanting pistons ASAP, I could get them to have them ready in 4-6 weeks - not only that, I could get you a better price on them. I'd have to know how many sets you need, though, for a set price"

What would that better price be? Well, I was looking at $342 drop shipped from Probe - so something less than that.

Forged pistons for $300? I'd be in for that. Anyone else?

I did some research on these when the topic first came up about 2 weeks ago. Found a few high horsepower mustangs (700-900hp) running these but was just holding off from buying JE's to get more info on how these would work in the 7M.

At that price I'm definetly interested. and would like all the info and projected date's you could get us.

I was planning on doing a stock rebuild next winter anyways, and for ~300 bucks, I might as well put in some forged pistons.

.50mm oversize will be 8.59:1 CR
1.0mm oversize will be 8.68:1 CR

-18.5cc dish.

Will run a 1.2x1.2x2.8 piston ring (lower friction than stock)

All the Probe SRS pistons I've used (well, both sets, LOL!) used a long tapered side skirt, much like this picture:

- that's actually their Honda piston, btw.

2618 alloy - which is preferred (imho) in a turbocharged application

They include the pins, yes - I don't know about the rings, though - I'll have to ask that as well tomorrow!

jdub, the weight, I do not believe will be known until a piston has been produced - they have never actually made one of these pistons yet

We need to get a running total of who would be willing to purchase a set, provided they are around the $300 mark, before S/H

Now, I have to let you know - these are NOT off the shelf pistons - we would be the initial run of pistons, so there will be a 4-6 week factor as they are actually made!
