I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Ok, I don't know about you guys, but I'm loving the improved quench area between the head and the piston itself.

What do you guys think? Also, here's the more or less finalized specifications:

$334.50 + S/H
~300 grams
1.2/1.5/3.0 ring pack
.150" walled wrist pins
2618 Alloy
-20cc dish
.0035"-.004" piston clearance
0.230" thickness of the crown under the 20cc dish
2.232" total skirt length
0.143" skirt thickness

ALSO MORE GOOD NEWS - Aaron over at Driftmotion has stepped up to the plate to help out in this group buy, by handling the finances - this is shaping up to be a VERY large order (as seen in the other thread) so come Thursday, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY INTO THE GROUP BUY VIA DRIFTMOTION.

Therefore, any of the billion ways that Driftmotion can accept payment, you can pay with ;)

Personally, I want to give a great big THANK YOU to Aaron over @ Driftmotion - I have no idea how I would have handled such a large transaction myself!

AGAIN - BUY IN WILL START THURSDAY. Probe will take 4-6 weeks with these custom pistons, then Aaron will be shipping them out himself.

Damn, I'm excited!

Oh, for anyone wondering about the compression ratios -

UNCUT VIRGIN MOTOR + 1.37mm headgasket = 8.36:1 CR
Take .006" off the head and .006" off the block (aka surfacing them both) = 8.55:1 CR
Bore 0.50mm over = 8.63:1
Bore 1.00mm over = 8.72:1

This is all assuming a .004" protrusion of the piston (about a .01mm, IIRC this is what Ian told me it was)

Well? Do I tell Eric to go ahead with this design? Personally, I like it. I like it a LOT!

*edit*

uh... can a mod maybe fix my spelling in the thread title? :3d_frown:

What's the thickness of material between the valve relief and the piston edge?
In the model, it looks REAL thin. (Of course, ALL hot models are thin..:)
I assume it's a normal dimension, though, yes?

I did not draw that :) Shawn @ Probe Industries did ;)

Oh, and btw - go look up any mass produced 7M piston. They ALL look like a slightly modified stock piston.

This is the first piston I've seen for the 7M, that's actually paid any attention to the upper half of the combustion chamber - the freakin' HEAD!

As for the valve relief, I'm going to ask Shawn what diameter valve he based that off of ;)

That's what it's going to be set at. $334.50 + s/h. The price is staying the same, due to the stronger wrist pins.

We're getting these pistons at 1/2 the price of any other forged piston, and they are custom made to boot - I can't see anyone arguing over the price, LOL!

Yeah, ok, who said no? If you don't like the pistons, at least say why!

*laughes* Not a problem - this group buy will only be open for a maximum of 2 weeks - that's why I've worked to get to word out well in advance!

Suprarich will have a few sets after the GB is done, talk to him ;).

HEY, can anyone get a dead on picture of any/all aftermarket forged pistons (and a side view too) for the 7M, preferably in the same positions as the illustrations on what the probe forged pistons are going to look like? I'm sure I'm not the only guy on here that wants to see a real life comparison between Ross, JE, Arias, CP, Wiseco, etc. have compared to what Probe is offering us...

INPUT?
