Hello. I'm planning to run 12psi on the following setup and wanted to make sure that there are no potential serious issues with this...

o New Motor 7mGTE & 50 trim CT26

o “K&N Filter Charger Cone Intake System”
o 3” direct bolt on divorced dowpipe
o 3” Random Technology High-Flow Cat
o 3” HKS turbo exhaust
o BOV
o All coolant hoses replaced
o New Oil/water pump
o HKS Metal HG
o ARP bolts/studs
o Greddy Timing Belt
o AEM True Boost Gauge & Oil Pressure Gauge
o AEM True Boost Controller, set to 12 psi

o HKS Fuel Cut Defender
**Currently, without a boost controller, I am hitting the fuel cut as my auto shifts from 2nd into 3rd if I keep the throttle down all the way. I’m hoping the fuel cut defender and boost controller will prevent this from happening

set your boost down to 10psi and see hat happens. fuel cut is there to save you not just so you cant have as much power. if you really want to up the boost you should look into 550's, lex afm, afpr, and a fuel controller. there are proper ways to mod these cars and a fcd is not a proper way to do things.

Well, you're also hoping for a blown head gasket, rod knock, and maybe even a hole in your piston. How many times do you have to read that a FCD is a time bomb waiting to go off, before you get it? Fuel cut keeps you from doing something dumb, and blowing up your engine. Go ahead, use the damn thing, and while you're at it, remove the brakes too. They just add needless weight, right?

You guys are great! Yup, I was leery about installing it, but the guys at MVP Motorsports swear its the thing to do. It's getting returned while not even taken out of the box. Thanks for the input.

I had never heard anything bad about the people at MVP, but I will be leery of them now, for saying something like that.

FCD is part of the old HKS alphabet soup system (VPC, GCC, F-con, EVC). FCD was never intended to be installed by itself. Now a days the Lexus afm+550 injectors should take care of most of that though while still leaving FC in place just incase. FCD by itself is not a good idea.
