Pressure plate brand???

I need to know what brand this pressure plate is, so that I know to get a new clutch or not. It does not appear to be a repainted stock clutch (although it does have toyota inscribed on it) because of the double diaphram. It looks to be reinforced pretty well and it does have RPS on the side of it but I am not sure if the previous owner put a sticker there or if it is a genuine RPS pressure plate. If it is, can anyone tell me what the holding power of this plate is??? I was thinking of getting a ACT 6 puck with a sprung hub to go with it. If I can't find out what it is then I will opt for a Stage 5 clutch masters setup. It came with the supra that I bought. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Here are some pics:

RPS 3200lb Pressure Plate

And it's screwed as the fingers of the diaphram have shifted (all too common). It throws off the balance badly.

Don't reuse it.

Depends on your views.

Personally, I've seen too many reports of their engines being destroyed from the thrust washers wearing out prematurely from the insain loads.

Not to mention their absolutely horrible customer service...

Besides the really stiff pedal feel, I love my RPS 3200 PP. Bypassed my clutch start safety switch so it doesn't kill my thrust bearings and have never had any problems. I have not checked to see if the diaphragm has shifted, however, it doesn't give any weird vibrations and when paired with a RPS 6-puck sprung hub clutch disk, its holding 512HP very well.

if i slip the clutch up even a little bit to heat it up (lets say in traffic) mine creates a very harsh grinding noise until it cools down :aigo:

Ouch, that sucks. I guess that means mine is just fine, never had any issues. What clutch disc are you using?

Hey thanks for all the responses!!! I appreciated and I also checked the diaphragm again and it seems to be okay. In the pics the bearing is offcentered so it looks shifted, but it is actually in place pretty well. That explains why the clutch pedal safety switch was bypassed by the previous owner. I think I'll take my chances and get an ACT 6 puck to go with it. Thanks again for all the responses, you guys are very informative.

no, the fingers are shifted, they should be lined up. They get the huge clamp force from stacking two diaphrams on top of eachother, and the fingers should be lined up.

It's a VERY common problem on the older RPS PP's, DON'T CHANCE IT.

If you NEED this insain of a clutch, you should be going multi plate IMHO...

I have two RPS's 3200 pressure plates and max stage 3 discs.
One is riveted and one is not.

Both have been beat on relentlessly, and neither have shifted.
Engine is producing 564hp/510tq to the wheels.

*Just my data.*

Poodles...thanks for the heads up, I did not know what you meant by the fingers shifting in your earlier post, I won't chance it...it's just too much work.

MK3Brent...thanks for the pics to show how it should look like.

Reason for going with something with such a huge clamp force is because my XTD clutch ( I know...I put it in before the sticky went up) is slipping like crazy and it barely has 1600 miles on it. When it's cold it grabs pretty good, but if I drive it for about 20 minutes or so and the engine heats up than I will be lucky if I could get it to grab with the clutch pedal all the way out. So I figure I go with something with more clamping force.

I was thinking about the ACT Xtreme Plate kit or the Stage 5 Clutchmasters kit, but wanted to explore my other options as well.

I'll probably go with the ACT Xtreme too since there is a good deal on it right now from A2 Motorsports. I was thinking about putting in the stock disk in place of the six puck for smoother engagement since my goal is only about 350 whp for the time being.
