How much power do you lose from a inter cooler pipe off with a crack in it.

How much fuel leaks out of a tank with a crack in it.

If you had a leak in you oxygen tank while you were you deep sea diving, how much time would you have and would you lose oxygen?

You " are " losing power from this. You also should fix it, I wouldn't want that much heat coming out where yours is.

A "Downpipe" isn't an Intercooler pipe....... :nono:

I was referring to the Downpipe and Intercooler as a loss of power if they both had holes in them.

I know that you knew what I was talking about.

No actually I had NFI what relevance "intercooler" had to a cracked downpipe....

Well then, I apologize for trying to explain something and not doing it correctly.

Time to go to bed, have a good day.

You can just remove the exhaust behind the turbo and have no real loss of power. Intake piping, however, must be properly sealed.

Exhaust that is unsealed won't hurt the engine, but I wouldn't stick around for long like that ;)

These analogies don't float...you are trying to compare apples to oranges.

I love it when you hard headed guys end up extending the thread after the questions have been answered to argue about semantics. This place cracks me up.

For the record, I completely got what his general analogy was saying but definitely saw Ian having a problem with it because it was technically incorrect.

Just to be clear - you will lose very little (if any) power from a hole in the DP that far down from the O2 sensor.

A gutted CAT is illegal - The power gain is minor compared to the fine if caught. Get a high flow CAT.

I proved that one on the dyno - a gutted cat vs straight pipe was the difference of ~7rwhp on a 290rwhp vehicle.

The gutted cat allows exhaust to suddenly expand and cool, 'plugging' it up ;)

Reduced flow...not "plugging it up" per say. A normal CAT does the same thing, but also has the substrate inside that will impede flow as well. The CAT (even a gutted one) will also help muffle exhaust noise and reduce the "drone" sound a lot of guys experience.
